2001 Acura/Honda GSR Radiator Replacement, Real Time -EricTheCarGuy

I thought I would try something a little different with this one and do the video in real time. As it often happens, things didn’t quite go as planned becaus…

As an aspiring independent mechanic, this was good. I’ve done several radiators yet still watched this and gained entertainment value. With some of your simpler jobs that come to you (brake jobs, oil/filter. coolant flush, plugs/wires) this type of fixed camera repair with commentary would suffice for me.

Martin Gardener says:

Great idea. Whever I fix something using an online video guide I often wonder why the hell it takes so long. I figure that 1) Im not a professional mechanic and 2) videos are heavily edited. Real time is great for a change! Wonder if you could do a real-time engine rebuild…..? ;o)

Taskin Yucekurt says:

You did it again Eric, that was awesome video. Im looking forward for that white honda new engine replacement video which one you made that 2 times, I think times up for that Honda again 😀

Jonathan Thompson says:

More people involved in production, in theory, would increase costs of operations and perhaps set a precedence. In addition, I think Eric, in order to connect with his audience, approaches most jobs with an attitude of one person one job. Bottom line, stay dirty.

angev2 says:

if you go this way. You really need someone doing the camera work. Panning , zooming etc.

slickwilly87 says:

BEAT THE BOOK!!!!!

nextrider123 says:

i did the radiator in my 91 integra and no telling how long those radiator hoses have been in there i suggest replacing both of them as a “preventitive measure” also did anyone else notice even after he got the “correct radiator” it was still for an automatic trans just saying Eric lol

AirsoftLax says:

I dont understand why on every video somebody has to ask him why he doesn’t have a lift. Why don’t YOU have a lift? HUH?

AgentHydra says:

I like this format

infinity3jif says:

piece of cake now on to the next

ivanmelchor555 says:

Hey Eric try and get a lift,it would make for some cool videos

xavichaos1 says:

Hey Eric you should show us how you replaced the timing belt on this acura gsr. I want to be a tech. And timing belts with two cams seems like it can be difficult. I’ve never done one myself but I would love to see its done. Thanks 🙂

jakelong321 says:

If you ever do buy it from her please please please clean the engine bay. Lol

Dave Grohl says:

I wonder if he ever found the rad cap

ColonelSandersLite says:

On the subject of twisted hoses:

I used to work in a factory and one of the things that the QA guys would tell us over and over again is that installing a hose twisted will reduce its lifespan by 90%. So yeah, don’t do that unless you like replacing hoses.

RicR says:

Get it and swap a Type R in the there and rev to the moon with VTEC!

vrsca89 says:

I like the real time idea…

klong1972 says:

Eric, please cut your hair.

klong1972 says:

This sucked

ahmad2032 says:

Bad idea eric

robbcrx says:

Why is there such a price difference between an OEM Honda rad and aftermarket ?

euonymus1980 says:

Hi Eric,Did you post the timing belt video that you mentioned that you did on this vehicle?

Kasra Sadeghian says:

Sick Video!

LMacNeill says:

You know, as far as “shaking things up a bit” is concerned, I like this type of format occasionally. Variety is the spice of life, yes? 🙂 Still like your normal format also, of course, but having this type of fixed-camera-with-voice-over thing occasionally is definitely enjoyable.

dolly244 says:

You make this hard work look easy and funny. I asked a question on your discussion page, when you get time can you read it. Thanks. Peace

Dickolas Wage says:

Kickstarter to get ETCG a shop lift. Who’s with me?

LocutusIsBorg says:

I don’t mind this style of video as long as it has a voice-over commentary, though I do miss the close-up shots.

Matt Gottfried says:

I hope the driver realizes what car they car got. Beautiful

Pete Jackson says:

She got this thing hot enough to pull over, which makes me worry about the Head Gasket… Good on her for keeping an eye on the lights and gauges! Not many people do that anymore….

CoHxUnLoaDz98 says:

I think it would be interesting to see you use a gopro camera mounted on your head while you work so we can get a 1st person view and then have you voice over. But I do like the two camera set up you have going on.

joe plumber says:

please get a haircut, you look like a hippy.

Alex Vong says:

And even a girl drives or not it seem awesome and this is a good video for repair

iAmThereThatGuy says:

Eric, I’ve got an 02 Tahoe 5.3 LS that I’ve had for a few months and the service engine light was on so I finally got around to checking it out. It turned out to be P0327 and P0332 witch is Knock Sensor 1,2 Circuit Low Input. Is it necessary to fix this issue and if so how much (around) would it cost me at a shop? I think its the sensor as engine sounds fine and runs fine. Not something I can do since it has to do with taking off the manifold.
Thanks Mike

Alex Vong says:

Oh thats some nice integra

Stevie Bboy says:

Oooohhh 🙂 Chick that can drive a stick.. That’s a rare option anymore…

RealCadde says:

I agree but unless it’s imperative to have an after edit remark then i just want to see what he sees and hear what he hears.

Imagine even having a live stream…!

Grinthor86 says:

Nice video (as always), thanks for uploading.

RealCadde says:

So at 2:20 i thought this would have been much more interesting without the voice over. You should have stuck with your original plan Eric!

rob4hello says:

rob4hello was here 2013. 🙂 hmm. subframes, k frames, brakes, alternator, power steering, radiator, ball and cv joints , hand brakes, shoes, inch pound, drill, manifold, throttles, pcv, oil separator, diodes, sandpaper, tin, solder, power supply, welding, cordless, and i skipped the yard work,playstation….. great videos eric.

Samniss Arandeen says:

We need an ETCG Head Cam. We see what you see and you can edit in your remarks.

Kev R says:

Great video!! I learned a lot, thank you.

adosno883 says:

do you even lift Kappa

justsumguy2u says:

Well done. I have to wonder though if maybe the head gasket isn’t popped now, as Honda heads aren’t very tolerant of major overheating like that.

omrannoos says:

Thanks for the clips.

modermonkula says:

Will you be making any videos on turbo’s ?.

hanky97007 says:

Very Funny Eric. Today I’m replacing my radiator on my 2000 Honda Accord. Top tank cracked. Had a job interview and ran AC to keep from sweating to death. Radiator paid the price. Never had seen a tank seal leak before it’s always been cracks in the tanks.

Supreemee Dee Jeedi says:

@ericthecarguy is it true, that on honda’s is very common when your car overheats your engine head may also mess up?
