I bought this neglected Land Rover Discovery 3 for just $1,500, even though its original price in China was reportedly over 1 million yuan. My wife thought it was a hopeless wreck, but I believed this old SUV deserved another chance.

The first surprise? The engine was still there and could start with a jump, but the transmission wouldn’t move the vehicle. After taking it apart, we found excessive wear in a transmission bushing, pressure loss, and burned friction plates. We rebuilt the gearbox, restored the engine, and cleaned years of sludge and grime from its components.

Then we tackled the chassis, worn seals, and aging suspension parts before refinishing the body in fresh paint. Inside, we restored the dashboard and trim, installed cognac-brown leather with detailed stitching, and brought the cabin back to a premium look.

After a complete mechanical and cosmetic transformation, this forgotten Land Rover was ready to return to the road.
