Dont just spray WD40 behind the mirror as advised per other youtube videos, there are 2 rubber grommets that hold wires going the motor mechanism. If water gets in, from washing a car, car wash or heavy rainfall, the folding mechanism may not operate (open and close completely)
In my case, it was simpy removing the mirror, finding and Removing the rubber grommets and spraying WD40 down the motor surround, then replace rubber grommets.
hope this helps and you save some WD40 (instead of blindly spraying it)
I did this, and it worked great, but when I snapped the mirror back in, it still wobbles. How do I securely fasten it back in place?
Thank you for this video. My passenger mirror has stopped winding all the way back out immediately after a car wash so good to hear the explanation and fix.
Thank you, tried it today and it seems to have worked. Had to run the fold in and out a few times to grease up the joints and flush the water out
safer and easier to take the plastic cover off the mirror assembly than the mirror itself, it just clips off
Successfully applied WD-40 from a can that has a long spray tube. With remote control, moved mirror to extreme lower outside position. Close to the car door, I looked down behind the mirror. Using flashlight, located the two grommets shown in video (behind the mirror) and sprayed WD-40 into them. After a few operations, the mirror holder folded ok again.
Solid video sir!
Thank you very much for your video!. I was looking exactly for a easier solution as to demontage all around the mirror. It is clear and togehter with this another video, i will try. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixz8l2Eyo84
Lucky my mirror stopped working whilst the the car was under warranty and was replaced for free,
Yes, it works but I recommend you use Silicone WD40. The 'silicone' lubes all the moving parts. Every couple of months, I squeeze the straw between the glass and mirror housing giving a good spray whilst wiggling the straw about. My 2017 CX-5 mirrors still work as good as new.
Try and put your hand in there. thats realiy confident and technical NOT
i actually managed to find the holes by using a wd-40 which comes with a narrow plastic hose so it can actually work without removing the mirror. Make sure it's the water resistant type! Yes, my wife is very happy with me.
I did have this stupid problem with my Mazda 3 after the first wash.
I've got a similar problem on my CX3 but the motor continuously runs when the engines running – will this solve the problem?
Thanks for helpful video and advices. I did as described in the video and everything is working well. To mention that I first tried spraying without taking the mirror off an it had no effect.
