I noticed that a lot of the bolts you remove (like exhaust bolts on the downpipe) you use a ratchet first then you run them off with your impact. I was wondering could you explain why? Are you more likely to break/strip those rusted bolts with an impact?

Also, thanks for the video! I don't have to do this, and I've already done an engine swap on my integra a few years back but it's these little tips you find that are priceless!

I've been looking to tackle my 99 accord for the same issue on the rusted subframe, but I've been kinda hesitant as I've never replaced a subframe. I tried finding any kind of video to help me out, been looking for a while but haven't found any until I came across yours. I'm sure glad I did, your video is clear to the point and practical. It gives me the confidence to go ahead and do my own now. Thanks a lot for posting. I know I'll be using it along the way as I do the job and I'm sure it's going to be extremely helpful, thanks again!!!

You guys are AWESOME, GREAT video and step by step instructions especially for a big job like this.

howtobebasic1 says:

the subframes are known for rusting out due to the ac hose i extended the hose out of the way and i replaced the subframe and added a undercoating to protect it from rusting it was a 1200 dollar repair

Todd Gapinski says:

great video,did a 2000 accord and I couldn't have asked for a better visual

C Tek says:

ya this is both stress inducing and informative.
stressing me out cuz i need to pull this whole assembly at the scrap yard. Did not realize how big a job it was to pull the subframe out. I gotta do it for a 5th Gen Prelude shell and from what i seen its very similar to the Accord.
got any tips for a quick and dirty removal

BoostedMiniMe says:

Thanks for this guys it was a huge help. My Accord is the V6 version and its pretty much the same procedure. The only thing that I did different was undo the power steering pressure line at the pump and the return line at the junction from steel line to rubber and then dropped it all out with the cradle. This saved me the aggravation of trying to undo shitty fittings with crow feet.

klowny1969…..do you own a garage? Do you do this professionally? I ask because I might have this job coming up on my 2002 Accord and I don't think the dealership would do it.
