Don't melt PVC (polyvinyl chloride) it will kill you. The fumes are clorine gas!!
If you wax the grain card I'd imagine it would minimize the contamination.
This totally blew me away! I just used this procedure on the very subject of this video, 2005 Ford F150 severely faded cowl vent covers, and I would have never believed it, unless I saw it with my own two eyeballs. Whoever discovered this trick should get a Nobel Prize for auto restoration. I used a smaller heatgun, and used it, very much like air brushing paint and got excellent results! Best to thoroughly scrub the piece first, then get the technique down for even coverage, to prevent, or reduce, a "mottled" appearance. Finalized it with Stoner Trim Shine and they look good as new….REALLY! Will save hundreds $$$ in replacing faded parts.
Try this to texture a large plastic panel http://www.semproducts.com/refinish-flexible-coatings/texture-coating
Used a 3 M pad, the sponge on with the green surface, and sanded the trim with soapy water. Worked well for what I did. Need to mask surrounding areas to avoid damage to them.
Seems like they should make a roller tool to accomplish the "graining" look. ??
what repairing sail panels? I accidently put a hole in one of mine and would like know how I can repair it
I never saw this done before, pretty cool. I have a small tear in my rear door panel on my Camaro and I want to see how the Eastwood kit works. When are you going to do the post on the EW kit? Enjoying your videos.
This stuff work really well. Used it myself and was extremely happy
