On my older Morse steering cable, it has a tilt tube threaded into a block
for adjusting it. After replacing the cable using the old steering tube, I
noticed the end of the tube allows a lot of grease to come out when
steering. How can I keep the grease in? Can I use the little rubber boot by
Teleflex that has the felt insert in it?

i have to post a video out here. i’m having trouble removing the steering
cable from the actuator. it has a stop or something in there and wont pull
out. does the cable screw out? Is the actuator a one-piece attached to the
cable? do i have to order a cable with an actuator? seems unlikely. Plus
on the other side of the actuator there is another cable end and it appears
to be separate from the one on the ‘steering/starboard’ side of this boat
entering the actuator.

Each is pinned to hold the cable end. the port side is connected to the
outdrive ‘u’ arm with a pin. the top of that arm has been compromised by
corrosion and the pin is held like a weld in it. I cannot remove that pin
without breaking the top of that connector ‘u’ from the outdrive. it’s a
Sea Ray Sport Cruiser with a 5-liter mercury and has an Alpha One
outdrive/sterndrive.

before i got there the customer cut out the rack and cable down just before
it goes into the actuator. the remaining cable is hanging out of the
actuator and that is what i cannot remove. also if i break the top part of
the connecting arm from the outdrive, is that piece replaceable? i cannot
remove the actuator without getting this pin out. i can send a video and a
few pics if that will help.

any help appreciated.
