The ride will be a lot rougher overall without the addition of better shocks because the torsion bars are turned up.

chris blazek says:

I turned up my torsion bars some to help level truck. do i need to get larger shocks now? i have a 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500HD.

Great Channel Mike! I’ve bought several parts and will continue to do so. Your prices and video tips are excellent.

change rear shocks on a 2008 saturn arura

1aauto says:

You shouldn’t need one after replaceing these shocks.

mulepacker77 says:

Do you need to get the alignment redone after you install the new shocks?

1aauto says:

We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows this particular repair.

david smiley says:

What do you do to change them on a 1966 ford F-100 4×4 ?

RedWhiteAndBlueVideo says:

I know that this post is old but I just changed my front shocks. I removed the old and then I put the top threads in the top bracket of course palce your bushings on beforehand.
Then bolt your lower bolt. Jack the A-arm up a little put your top bushing on and secure with nut and torque your bottom bolt.
Not really sure what mike is talking about the shock has to have a load on it or it will shoot out of the car? My shocks were full extended and the way i did it there was no chance of it.

1aauto says:

We carry aftermarket shocks on our website that are just like the factory ones. They’re a great replacement for the original shocks. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

tailhook44 says:

Awesome video. I have an 01 Tahoe LS 4×4 what do you recommend for a replacement shocks. Thanks.

1aauto says:

The issue is the shock has to not have a load on it to properly install on the vehicle or it will shoot out of the car.

mikep3501 says:

Can I get away with not lifting the truck? Thanks for the Video it’s very informative. Thanks again!

1aauto says:

You should be able to just lift the one side up in the air to remove the shock.

fonderen says:

to change the shocks do we have to lift the car (all the wheels) or just car jack is going to be fine? (on the one side)
thanks.

1aauto says:

Something like that is going to be way to vague to diagnosis over the internet. Your best bet would be to bring it to a mechanic and have them do all the leg work to figure out what is wrong and then go and do the work yourself.

soledeth says:

I have a 2000 gmc Denali it was making thumping noises every time front wheels move now it won’t turn on Im replacing actuator but what else could it be?

spelunkerd says:

I like your new intro, Mike. One day you might try using a lavalier mic for the intro — it really improves voice audio, at the expense of a little more effort. Not so practical when your are turning wrenches but great for an intro.

1aauto says:

You just tighten up the nut pretty good with a wrench just like with the lower bolt.

UFOGHOSTHUNTER says:

how tight does the top nut on the new shock have to be?

missouritiger09 says:

Great video, thanks for the upload! Probably the only straightforward shock replacement video I’ve seen on these vehicles.

1aauto says:

That will speed up the process!
