2011 Ford Escape — it’s located behind the glovebox. Lower the glovebox
door and locate the 2 screws (one in back and one in front) and remove the
resistor. It is a flat board looking thing. It’s easier to remove the wire
harness after the resistor board is removed.

Hi there. My 2001 Escape resister look nothing like the one you just pulled
out. I have a right hand drive model built in Japan. The whole blower
system looks different and the blower resister is a flat looking thing.
Looks like a 2003 Explorer’s part except for the plug and mount plate is
different. I’m having real difficulty sourcing a replacement. Any ideas?

Thanks…it helped me out a lot!

On my 2008 mariner. 1. (Easy) removed 3 screws on the bottom of the glove
compartment and the whole glove compartment comes out easily 2. (Hard)
Inside and on top of the duct is an electrical fitting. 2 small screws, 1
each side, hold the resistor. Used a very small wrench and some vulgarity
to remove screws. 3. (Easy) pulled out resistor. 4. (Easy) Unplugged
connector. Plugged in new one and reversed the assembly. Very little room
to work with those 2 small screws.

You may want to check the wire going to the blower motor to see if it’s
loose and making a bad contact, or if the end has heated up and melted, and
needs to be repaired. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

HI Frank, You may want to check the blower motor resistor to see if it’s
bad. Usually when then they go bad you’ll start to loose some of the speed
settings. You could also remove the plug to it to see if it looks like it
has been damaged do to the resistor getting hot. Hope this helps you out.
Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Unfortunately we do not currently have that vehicle available to us at this
time so doing a video is not possible. The concept for the resistor is just
the same though for both the 01-04 model as it is the 2008. The resistor is
behind the dash next to the blower motor on the passenger side of the
vehicle.

yours yet, as had the same question? THANKS

Great vid, thank you for making and posting. Helped me out!

Kneron Steele says:

Pretty easy job, but im trying to find some info on the heat resistors, as
they are very cheap, and all you have to do is to change the resistor
itself, instead of bying the whole pack. Anyone know the color codes on the
heat resistors or where i can find info on them?

Joe Fery says:

I have a 2011 escape. The fan speed constantly fluctuates without touching
the speed control. Do you know what could be causing the problem? Also, the
am radio has become very weak reception. Could these be related?

Luis Acosta says:

Thank You for this helpful video!! I fixxed my 2002 Ford Escape XLT!

Craig Humbert says:

What about a 2010 Ford Escape? Where would the resistor be? Mine is blown
and I have to change it.
