Volvo XC90 Water Pump & Drive Belt System Replacement DIY (2007-2014 Volvo P2 XC90 3.2 SI6)

Volvo XC90 Water Pump & Drive Belt System Replacement DIY (2007-2014 Volvo P2 XC90 3.2 SI6)

►The drive belt system attached to your Volvo XC90’s engine drives the water pump: a critical engine component. If the belt, pump, or any of the pulleys fail, it can mean your engine will stop circulating coolant, leading to overheating. Replacing the water pump and drive belt system together is a great way to ensure smooth, trouble-free driving from your cooling system.

Within the drive belt system are a couple of pulleys, a belt tensioner, and the belt. The pulleys will make a whirring noise once they’ve started to fail, as their internal bearing has worn out. In other instances, the drive belt can crack and snap if left long enough. Instead of waiting for a failure to occur, perform some preventative maintenance with the help of an FCP Euro DIY.

In this video, Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro’s Professional DIY’er, replaces the water pump and drive belt system on a P2 Volvo XC90 3.2.

Great video! I'm doing such a replacement just now – in my opinion plastic pin should go in opposite direction, long side into steering pump, shorter one into water pump, at least with HEPU water pump.

Bete says:

Just finished this on my 09 XC90 in about 8 hours. Bolt at 20:40 took close to an hour to find and get out. Once I got it I realized there’s really no way to show exactly where it is, other than that the video is great. Also this whole diy is possible without a swivel ratchet although it definitely would’ve helped.

Danna McDermoth says:

Thanks for the greatest and most illustrative video I've ever seen!!! Can you please confirm that the AC bracket for 2008 Volvo XC90 AWD is the same as you have shown. Vida is telling me I need an allignment tool when re installing the bracket.

Scott Taylor says:

During the decoupler pulley replacement, when you tightening the bolt, would it cause a problem (perhaps timing) if the bolt and spline move clockwise a little (maybe a 1/8 turn) during the tightening?
After assembly of the rest of the parts, I have a check engine light and revving. feels like timing is off.

D GOldman says:

nice video, hate the music

John van der Steur says:

Thanks for the video, it's the best one on this job I've found. I have a 2007 XC90 with 255k and I'd like to do this job myself. I ordered the parts and they've arrived. Now I need to muster the courage to get started. One tip: the fast forward parts with the music were the parts I'd like to see a bit slower so I can see exactly how you did it.

carlos perez says:

Yeah I'd like to know where the spring rest where exactly does that spring rest I've watched numerous videos and no one shows where that spring rest Thank you in advance

Wayne Buhrman says:

What is the name of the vacuum fill tool you used? Does fcpeuro sell it?

CraxyKyle says:

shoot now im confused about the alignment for the ac compressor bracket i never saw anything about it until i started ripping everything apart. same with the alternator pulley seal
