RuskyaMafia says:

hey i got how long did it take for ur car to cool down? i got a same car

1squeez says:

Interesting, thank you for the lesson.

wedginator says:

@RuskyaMafia Some fuel should come out. Hopefully it didn’t make a mess of
anything. You should be fine after re-installing the fuel line. When you go
to start your car the fuel pump should re-pressurize the fuel rail and
you’ll be good to go. In some cases, the engine might stall or stutter. If
it stalls, just turn the key off, then back on, and restart the engine.

RuskyaMafia says:

ok i got my thermostat changed and flushed my radiator. car warms up great
now. by the way this might be a little late lol, but is it ok to use
distilled water to mix with coolant?

RuskyaMafia says:

also i started working on it today. everything didn’t go the way it was
supposed to, but it was totally my fault. by the way i disconnected the
fuel line, and it seemed like some fuel got out on the engine. so after i
plug it back in is there something i should worry about?

blandfam58 says:

***Dude your a freakn life saver 😀

wedginator says:

@RuskyaMafia It’s usually a good idea to wipe off the fuel rather than
leave it on. Don’t risk anything.

seiseizapple says:

how about other volvo…i means 240??

wedginator says:

@RuskyaMafia Since it was a cold day so it took about 15 mins to cool. I’m
guessing on a warm day it will take much longer, possibly around 30 – 45
mins.

GatheringSticks says:

drive it forever…good job

RuskyaMafia says:

is it ok for fuel to get on the engine? i mean engine gets hot when u
drive, its not going to catch on fire is it?

networkdeath says:

Just another thank you for the time you put in on this video – very helpful
and my “96 850 GLT sedan w/ 74,000 original miles thanks you too. Only
thing to add is there’s lots of Volvo forum chatter about using HOAT
(Hybrid Organic Acid Tech) coolant vs regular non-Hybrid green Prestone.
Volvo mechs here in Tucson told me to only use the Hybrid type to combat
local boiling problems, even w non-turbos. Zerex G-05 is good choice or buy
at Volvo parts dept, both are ~ same price. Not cheap though!

wedginator says:

@RuskyaMafia If you’re using premixed 50/50 antifreeze, then it’s not
recommended to add water. Adding water just increases the freezing point of
the coolant which you dont want especially in cold climates. Frozen coolant
is very bad for your system and could damage your rad, water pump, engine
block etc. If you’re using antifreeze that you need to mix, then you’ll
need to add water to the recommended mix; typically 50/50. If it’s just a
little bit of water added, then i wouldn’t worry too much.

Cindy Reilley says:

You did not say how to bleed the radiator! I keep looking every where to
learn how to bleed it.. Top hose not filling with coolant. could you say
how to do this please. Thank you!

wedginator says:

@RuskyaMafia Yup, distilled is fine.

wedginator says:

@LadydogC Ah yes, I didn’t mention that in detail because this car is a
little different; it doesn’t have a rad cap. But basically fill up the rad
(slowly) with coolant and your coolant reservoir. Run your car until the
thermostat opens, you should see bubbles coming out. Squeeze the rad hoses
to get any remaining air bubbles out. Once you don’t see any more air
bubbles, then close up the system and you’re done. Search for burping the
radiator and you’ll find more details.

matt876mma says:

Can you leave the coolant res cap off while started for 15 mins to avoid
airlock?

Jose Cabrera says:

It is great to be able to watch your video. I have the confidence to do it
myself instead of paying $150

adam ddungu says:

Thanks for the video.. i have applied the same but i need your in put.. i
have the same volvo 850 1994.. i have replaced the thermostat.. but the car
still get hot/over heat.. any help .. thanks

RuskyaMafia says:
