Yes, the radio will lock up any time the power is pulled from the battery.
Just got a 5 speed 98 V70 and had to change the starter, and ended up with a locked radio. Thanks for the tips, I’ll be giving this a shot first thing in the morning!

If your bass sounds nice you either have the Premium Sound System or an amp behind the dash area in front of the heater core.
Whats the power amp? Im not sure if mine is the volvo up grade or not because idk how to tell if it is. All i know is the bass sounds nice.
I met with a guy the other day that had an after market radio in his car and it sounded very weak. I let him hear the stock system in my car and I think he’s going to install the stock radio. These systems are very good, especially if you have the power amp or premium system.
holly crap dude i just used your info in this vid and found the code on the top of the radio. First time i had my radio working in about 2 years! I forgot how nice the speakers sounded!
I’m gonna go see if i can find the code. My volvo radio card has 2 codes 1 is scribbled out and i tried both and they did not work. I’m hoping its on the radio.
Cool, if it’s 4 digits and the numbers are between 1-6 it may be. Only try it once.
