Great video, Robert. To screw down the cover without the hold down tools,
I use a battery powered 24V drill on the lightest torque setting of the 24
torque settings available then screw them down from the centre to outer
edges in the fashion you describe. I’ve done it this way on 5 Volvo
whiteblock heads and no problems so far. Have you thought of using 4 cut
old head bolts (bolt heads ground off) as guides when dropping the head
down onto the block. Wrapping the tops of the bolts with electrical tape
prevents damage and you get the head on first time without missing.

It seemed like on your third torque sequence, the 130 degree turn didn’t
appear to have much resistance? I thought the bolts would be making
squeaking noises on the last torque?
