When I first got this car, I forgot to change the fuel filter during the initial tune up. I paid for it later when it clogged up a few miles from home and I …

hi jake belder to remove the fuel lines from the fuel filter do you need a
special tool or just a wrench?

Is you 1031 a lsd ?

Hi lad I have a 240 GLT 2.2 non turbo, 87ish year. Has an odd problem
starts and drives fine for an hour or so but then you pull up and it cuts
out and wont start again till its cooled off. Not a heating issue as the
temp never goes above half way on the dash. I think its a fuel issue. Any
ideas?

Thanks for sharing with us how to change it. Now I have to locate the
filter on my explorer and change it. Thank you much!

You make me proud when you save yourself from brain damage by lead!

Adam Montoya says:

If you’re in the US, in most cases fuse 6 does nothing. It’s just a defacto
spare fuse.

I appreciate the attempt put into this, but it played less like an
instructional video and more like a cooking show. You know, how they show
some of the steps, skip what they feel is self-understood, and then jump to
a completed dish? That’s how I felt watching this.

thank you man

Acuransx135 says:

I was changing the filter on my 93 240 because my car was leaking fuel and
I figured it was the filter that was leaking got it all apart put the new
filter in and the leak was worse. Come to find out that the banjo bolt
fitting has a large crack on the inside of it and it’s a dealer only part
and the closest Volvo dealer ship is 45 minuets away.

Great video .Thanks again/ Brian

SlaktarN SWE says:

before doing this you shoul put some ethanol to clean the system from dirt
so it get clogged to the filter and then swap filet = clean system = better
fuel flow obv 😀

Jake Belder says:

Thanks, mate.

slimepuke says:

I’m going to have to make a video response to this on the 77′ 264

Jake Belder says:

@forman0621 I have no way of calculating it since the odometer is broken,
but I know it’s not great.

Aric Parker says:

what kind of gas mileage do you get with your 240. Mine struggles to get
above 14 mpg.

t21229513 says:

How did you determine that the filter was clogged?

mypongo100 says:

Nice video. I have a 88 760 turbo, 2.3. Filter replace is good maint to
avoid probs. Put it off and Murphy’s Law prevails. Again, very nice video,
obvious effort on your part. Every view was crystal clear. Great work.
Thanks.

I love those beautiful copper sealing washers! It’s a brilliant system that

fleetwoodsucks says:

@carasheabeads no idea what it was, sold the car for £200 to some banger
racer. Shame as it was mint 🙁

hotshotz420 says:

I thought you just take out fuse 6 (main fuel pump) . I did that and my car
wouldn’t start. So how do you let your engine stall. From previous comments
you should remove the wire to the fuel pump and start the engine..then
remove the negative charge of the battery and then fuse 6. Is this right?

carasheabeads says:

@fleetwoodsucks Could be your fuel accumulator.

Jakeness21 says:

@forman0621 I can’t get above 8 in my 940.

Jake Belder says:

Well, don’t wait as long as I did! Mine didn’t really give any warning
signs that it was clogged up. I think the general consensus is that
changing it every 15-20,000 miles or so is a good practice.

Jake Belder says:

On the Volvo, it was just a wrench. 14mm, I think.

HybridPineapple says:

So I took my fuses 6 and 4 out and my car kept running for like 5 minutes
so I gave up.
