I looked into replacing all four of my brakes and rotors. A dealership quoted me nearly a grand before tax. I immediately hung up discovered a brake company called Powerstop. All American made, 3 year 36,000 mile warranty, high ratings, cost around $350 for all four brake pads and rotors. The rest saving up for the kit. And everything else needed. I am getting help from a mechanic.
Thank you for a very detailed guide on doing this!
I never knew the rotor came off like that!
Great video only I wish I saw it last spring when I did my breaks and found out the hard way that I didn’t have to remove the caliper carrier, I wasted more time with the triple square than the whole break job lol
Thanks man you helped me out today
Nice video dude, I will be replacing my rear pads and rotors tomorrow so this tutorial will definitely help. Hope you had jack stands, and not just the f!imsy OEM jack, for safety
Great video. Remember, pump your brakes for a good while before you drive the car to make sure the brakes are back in the correct position. A neighbor of mine crashed into another neighbors car when he forgot to do this. Backed down his driveway and could not stop. LOL. Funny to the casual observer but not to those involved.
Great video!
Thank you for confirming that I don't need to remove the caliper carrier, unlike all of the other Mk6 rear brake videos I've seen on here.
You should have used metric wrenches not standard, Vw is metric
Great tutorial – thank you!
I ordered a torque spec poster from idparts, it lists the torque for the rear caliper carrier bolts at 26 ft-lbs
Hello Bogdan, my name is Bogdan too lol. I got quoted $492 at a volks dealer to replace the rear pads and rotors and I'm like holy crap. I have to find the caliper tool and I'm going to try to do it myself
You didn't list the special caliper wind-back tool you used. Also, it's not just a screwdriver, but a T30 Torx for the set screw. I would add spraying it with penetrating fluid since it is notorious for getting stuck. Nice work otherwise!
What does this have to do with Acuras? Are you going to change your channel to "Volkswagon Addicted'?
Yes! Another great video.
