Have the exact same problem on mine, its pushed over as well. Hoping to repair the same way butwill it need align boring as well, the case is std at moment
The bearing is no where near the crankshaft, but is the drilled hole is no deep enough, the bearing will be crushed and lock-up the crank. I don’t know how many times I have seen bearing mis-indexed during installation and the bearing is damaged.
OK this hole is for the dowel pin. The bearing has a hole that fits over the pin. If the hole isn’t deep enough, the pin will hit the crank.
Case is made of magnesium, when you weld on it the case halves they warp something firece and causes more problems.
I’m assuming you have had success with this repair. Why not Tig the hole, then re-drill? Magnesium found in those cases?
could you have used JB Weld?
John, love your videos and watch every one even if I don’t have any interest in the subject matter. Heck, I watched a 13 minute flywheel grinding and loved it! I have to say (and I’m not making fun) that the background music with the synthesized voices is hysterical, but I love just the sounds of the machinery and your voice without hearing Kanye West in the background (it’s a joke, simmer down trolls). Keep up the awesome work!
no but i have a picture of it plus the associated oil mods too.
Have not seen this mod, do you have video?
its a customers block.
granulated titanium particles
John have you ever pinned cam bearings for GM L36 V6 engines? I know one mechanic who mainly build these V6s and does the pin mod to the cam bearing to stop them spinning and blocking ht oil supply.
Is this the block for Blueberry?
when you say “titanium epoxy” is that just titanium powder suspended in epoxy?
