Hey quick fix for the battery outage, a 12 volt power plug from anything
old car cell phone plug works good. Cut this with 4 inches of wire at the
end of the plug, one of the wires will have a white stripe or a black line
on it, that is the positive side, strip both wires twist and soldier them,
or not. Place the positive side over the top of a 9 volt battery, and the
other wire over the negative side of the 9 volt battery. You now have this
12 volt power plug with a 9 volt battery on the end of it. Plug that into
any of the power outlets on your car. This will save you car stereo
settings, the clock and computer from losing its power for about 1 hour, in
which time you can replace your main car battery with the new one.
Looks like a 1999 Beetle?
Great job, you really know what you’re doing.
There’s a $1 donation link on my website… just kidding. Glad to hear the
video was of help!
The battery clamps are 10mm hex, the power steering reservoir bolt is
either a 10mm hex or 5mm allen, the battery hold down bolt is a 13mm hex.
That should cover all.
thanks a million for the how to. this video just saved my mom $100 in
labor. i switched out for her instead. hi five!
I’ve seen worse on some domestics and other Euro brands. It’s the
Engineer’s that design this type of stuff (and who don’t have to work on
cars) that need to get a taste of their own medicine!
At times… LOL. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
Good stuff… thanks for watching & taking the time to comment!
it did help a lot. I could not remove the battery at first. But after
looking at this video I could do it in about 10-15min. Just needed the
right tools. Thanks
VW always making people step through hoops to get things done.
what size did you use to remove the bolts?
