so is it the same procedure to install the blower motor too??
It’s the fuse box int he driver side. I looked it up in the owners’ manual for which fuse to get. Went and bought one, turned fan on and just started plugging and playing until the fan turned on.
where did you find the right fuse? I couldnt turn my fan on any setting since yesterday either, id like to look at the fuse. Would this impact the auxillary plug in the glovebox?
Rock Auto, it’s online
Where did you buy the blower resistor?
Glad I could help!
Your video was very helpful. After watching it took me a whole 3 mins to install it on a 2007 jetta. Thanks
10-speaker Volkswagen audio system, head unit is the RCD-510. Audio quality is “meh” unfortunately.
What audio system do you have in your Jetta?
Great video, thanks.
Scratch that. Checked the fuses again. Looks like one was blown, but it was in the completely wrong spot from what my manual says. Replaced it with the proper 40A fuse and now the fan appears to be working as it should. VW needs to make better manuals. Cause the fuse for the fan was in a completely different spot than what the manual said.
Sounds like a problem with the fan itself and not the resistor. The resistor regulates the flow of electricity, so if there’s no power at all, it’s probably the blower motor itself.
My fan will not even turn on, at any speed. I’m wondering if my blower motor is toast. I am going to pull the stuff down there off and try turning the fan with a pencil and see if it comes on. That will probably tell me if the motor is dying. Cause if it’s just the resistor, I should get a fan at one of the four speeds shouldn’t I?
tee hee. blower.
I’ve had this go out on a GM car of 1998 vintage twice. After the 2nd time, my parents didn’t bother fixing it. We still had speeds 3,4,and 5 at least.
Great voideo!
Cool thanks
Maybe not this specifically but they do have their fair share of problems. Blower motor resistors go bad on all kinds of brands. Seen them out on Ford and GM vehicles with low mileage too.
So is this the kind of “electrical” stuff that goes bad on VW/Audis? I hear that Audis have a tendency to have bad electricals over 60k…
yay!
