HOW TO: VW Jetta Headlight Bulb Replacement

How to replace a burnt out low beam halogen headlight bulb in a 2010 and up Volkswagen Jetta!

Recommended bulbs:
I’m not endorsed or sponsored by Sylvania, but I personally really like their Silverstar series of bulbs. For reference any H7 style bulb will work for the low beams in this vehicle. See the links below for the different tier Silverstar products.

Bruh those lights you linked in the description don’t work with that model Jetta thanks

Tyler Brassfield says:

Thank you for the video, I thought I was going to have to take the whole headlight assembly out.

Jesse Smith says:

What about the high beam light or does the 2018 VW Jetta have one?

Elisha David says:

So that thing in your right hand at 1:23 – I dropped that, and it is nowhere to be found. Any idea what it is called/how I could find a replacement? Is it safe to connect without that piece?

My current auto shop is booked a month in advance, can't really afford to have my headlight out that long.

Madman G36C says:

Thanks but next time show us how to put it back in 100% the hardest part in this process

You have no clue

Gary Wagner says:

I agree with everybody else. This was a waste of time. Makes me know I don't need to waste time watching any more of your videos.

Brandon Bilello says:

Absolutely useless video and a waste of time

John Berry says:

Yeah, try fitting big hands in there to twist off (or on) the retaining clip. I have no skin left on my knuckles and it’s still not out. Humans hands don’t bend that way.

Kari McCarty says:

I’m here screaming cuz I still can’t get it off

Gustavo Serrano says:

I just did it. Hardest part was removing the old bulb. The tricky part actuslly wasn’t that hard. Only took one try for the second bulb

Mark Mitchell says:

Which way does the bulb go in. How do you orient the bulb?

This is what I found out…..

The flat part goes up. When you are inserting the new bulb in socket, the little tab on the flat part of the bulb flange should be lined up with the spike tab on the socket. Spike and tab should point up when inserting into light fixture.

Horrible design makes a 1 minute job into a 15 minute painful nightmare. Way to go VW.

Molly McIntyre says:

So I tried to replace my driver side for the first time since I got the car and the piece you twist to remove the light is missing. Is there still a way to get the light out? Thanks!

Tonnie Newcomb says:

Worthless video l9l

Jeff Jantzen says:

Before you unscrew the receptacle for the bulb, I would recommend marking the top side of the handle on the receptacle. I used white paint pen. it makes it a lot easier for getting it line back up to click back in. Counterclockwise to remove clockwise to put back in You only turn it about a 16th of a turn.

Alex Walter says:

too bad my FUCKING LIGHT JUST WILL NOT COME OUT I FUCKING HATE THIS CAR

Tyler Price says:

Totally utterly useless video.
