Green Star says:

Joke!!!! You need piston tool – not cheep! NO Mention of THIS !!!!

A Dude says:

There is no thing as a TORX 14mm! The right description is "Triple square MT14". Also, I'm stunned by the fact that you don't even consider using a torque wrench. Besides that, I like the fact that you keep it clean. You might also add for this task, that a VW dedicated scanner, or one which has MAINTENANCE features built in, will be ideal to be used to retract the elector-mechanic brake, falsely known as "electronic brake".

All Joy says:

This video didn't show that in order to retract the ebrake you have to remove the motor and the turn and push the piston in, in order to retract it manually. It is a spline bit to remove the brake caliper bracket and not a torx. This information is incorrect, and not professional.

Editorman one says:

Wow! The brake piston magically receded back far enough that it fit right back on the new pads!

Ardi Ardi says:

I watched this video because of that electronic stuff, btw you have to clean the oil and grease from the brand new disc brakes with a degreaser.

eeic Cervantes says:

Does anyone know what brand impact and ratchet he's using?

Liam Withers says:

Remove the motor and wind back the adjuster in the back of the calliper
6mm Allen key
Refit motor and job done
Just press parking brake and you’ll hear motor weer until it takes up the slack

Mario D says:

Ebrake need VCDS or VAGCOM, the carrier bolts need triple square bit 14 mm and they have a TON of torque on them!!! With jackstands not enough room to maneuver the breaker bar…..but got it done finally!

lukasz 080885 says:

It is spline m14 not torx

Johno Vegas says:

why not replace the hardware, and remove the rust from the caliper bracket and faces?

Ron Moon says:

The video presents a high-level overview of a rear brake job on a B6 Passat; this is clearly not a step by step DIY video. I greatly appreciate that the video identifies the proper Torx bits required for the job. Major shortcomings are: 1. The obvious failure to tell people you have to retract the rear electric parking brake as mentioned by more than one person in the comments. There are various videos how to do this retraction manually or with the proper computer tool on YouTube. 2. Mechanics are instructed to NEVER let a brake caliper hang by it's rubber hose while changing brake pads; support it with a bungie cord or a box stack up if bungie grab points are not available. 3. Torque values. As mentioned by another member, it is always nice to have the torque values presented in these videos. 4. Please tell people to lube the caliper guide pins. The mechanic in this video completely ignored this step. If you are at the point you need to replace the caliper, it's time to re-lube the guide pins. AutoDoc, thank you for providing the overall video, but attention to these details will make your videos, parts and product sales that much better.

Mr says:

I removed the 2 bolts holding the brake caliper and it did not move. So now that i know the cliper sits with only 2 bolts, i will just beat the living poop out of them until they loosen. Thank you mr autodoc!

felixrising says:

You didn't include torque values required, and some steps like cleaning hub and applying molybdenum high temp grease to caliper locator pins.

Kopa_Malphas says:

Soooo the reason for watching this video is to get that freaking electronic parking brake retracted….Thanks for nothing.

pbure1 says:

Does this guy have eyes, I only ever see his eyelids lol.

Liam MG says:

Because the bracket bolts come off that easy ? Bullshit

ALL THINGS CINEMA says:

I like how the bracket bolts came out so seamlessly with only first try.,

Either that bracket had been removed before or you "braked" the bolts with impact.. I worked on my and gave all the hand torque I had with bar but needed impact wrench

Cristian Colda says:

I think the video is not complete.. there is an EPB (Electronic Parking Brake ) that needs to be retracted !
Other than that you guys have pretty good videos…

gilberjj says:

Fantastic video! However, I don't believe this Passat is equipped with the Electronic Parking Brake which must be retracted in order to install the new pads.
