Thanks for your detailed video I bought genuine front struts for Toyota
Avalon 2000. Suprised me was that the strut shaft was bottomed (without
retaining clip or whatsoever) so i pulled it out and pushed back but the
shaft didn’t bounce back itself , just stand still. Is it normal for this
kind of strut or possibly defective ? Thanks

second view!! First comment! Nice videos man, been doing this stuff
professionally for years, love watching your videos!

I must say Will that I like the way you think and your attention to detail.
As for the VW, you’re right that I’ve got my hands full. Even though I’ve
got the lock carrier back, and it looks manageable, it’s still very tight
in there and the combi-valve is WAY back in there. It’s going to be tough
filming it. I’m thinking of pulling more stuff off to get that joker back
further so viewers can see better. And thanks for stopping by and looking
at some of the videos. I really appreciate it.

robinsonsauto says:

Hello, caster on this vehicle is non adjustable, unless something is bent
or tweaked, the only adjustments we have are, Toe- adjusted with the tie
rods turning the tires left or right similar movement as if you turn the
steering wheel “horizontal adjustment”, and the Camber- adjusted at the
spindle/strut tilting the upper portion of the tire “vertical adjustment”
Caster is the angle to which the steering pivot axis is tilted forward or
rearward from vertical, most sports cars are adjustable

Thats my trusty craftsman, over 2yrs old and still gooing strong

ManicMechanic007 says:

I have to say that the angle gauge is an excellent idea. Good job Will,
thanks for sharing.

Jimmy Mac says:

Will, What cordless impact wrench do you use?

robinsonsauto says:

Thank you i appreciate the compliments and feedback, glad things work out
for u as well, i like it for what it is gets the job done safely, thanks
again

epiphaknee says:

You can search “clam shell strut compressor” and find them on Amazon and
E-Bay. They have various prices and features.

Michael McNeil says:

Thanks Will and keep the videos coming. We all can learn from each other
thanks !!

robinsonsauto says:

Thank you for the complement, come to find out i had it pretty close using
the angel gage campared to just the line, the right side was in specs and
the left just needed slight adjustment, in addition to some toe adjustment,
however it may have been out prior to the repairs and we just put it back
in the same place, I had some time to browse videos this afternoon, man you
got your hands full on the vw, hope all goes well

omer pasha says:

Been a subscriber for a while now wanted to congratulate u on your awsome
videos wantwd to ask when changing rear shocks is it better to get the
whole assembly or just the shocks and should the lateral link on a maxima
be changed after 150000 miles mag god bless u and guide u towards the
rightous way

robinsonsauto says:

Yea it works great for what it is, sorry i cant recall where i picked this
one up, had it for years if it comes to me i will be sure to let you know,
like epiphaknee mentioned i believe its called a clamshell strut compressor
hope that helps

robinsonsauto says:

Hello, I must have a twin lol the funny part is on Tuesday 6/4 i was at
harrys U pull it in Pennsburg around that time, im there often (Pennsburg
location) just down the road from me makes it nice

stuzman52 says:

Mmm, Mmm, Mmmm! Very nice work Will; especially the part where you used the
angle gauge to get the strut back into the same place. Thanks for taking
the time to share your work.

klc317 says:

Great well explained video once again.I’ve done a few strut replacements
the “unsafe way” before and am fortunately still in possession of all my
ligaments but I wont do that anymore. That is a decent spring compressor
you have there.

Geebuv says:

That’s a nice spring compressor for being portable. A lot better than the
Auto Zone ones that just clamp to the outside and fly off when it’s half
way compressed… Those lock pins are a nice feature too. You remember
where you got it?

Crossthread86 says:

hey Will. I think I seen you at harrys u pull it in Hazleton yesterday
around 930am I was pulling parts of a car and if it wasnt u the guy was
your twin. I was gonna say hi but after I was done getting my parts. I
wasn’t gonna search through thousands of cars to find you lol
