This is great, I tried this with the housing still in the car and I wasted so much time. Far easier to remove the entire casing before, beat down bulb change!! Ty for the great video

Ballast controller replacement? Already replaced ballasts. Lo beams work fine until I put the high beams on, then the flickering begins again.

Josh Kehr says:

No "diagnose" part. My bulb and ballast works on the other side, so now what?

What do I do when that damn plastic ring holding the bulb in does not want to turn?

Rodrigo Rangel says:

Hi. My Xenon is genuine and came from factory. Now, 6 years of usage, one side seams like have a fog inside the projector.
How can I clean that and what is the cause?
The lamps shoud be replaced by usage time or just when they stop working. I realized the ligt is not so effective and thing the cause is the "foggy dust" inside projector.

I'm having trouble getting my right light to work, I've tired replacing the Ballast, Ingnitor and Bulb, still nothing. I really dont want to drop $400 on a new light. Any chance you can give me some voltage check points that I can check out?

Ernesto Madrigal says:

Hello, I called the dealership and they said to make sure the ballast/igniter is Good before putting a new bulb.. my question is .. is there a way to test that.? thanks.!

Jason Harris says:

You may run into the case where you can't twist the ballast back onto the locking rig. Here's what's going on: Within the ballast there is a cream colored plastic ring that locks the bulb and is a part of the connector eject mechanism. If it gets out of alignment you won't be able to re-install the ballast. Take a screwdriver and just move the ring around so it's notches line up with the other notches in the ballast. Then the ballast will twist on easily (as in the video). BTW- you can't attach the connector before you install the ballast- if you try to do this the aforementioned issue will occur. I learnt this the hard way….

Hello Mr. DAP

I already replaced the HID (same model as your video)bulbs 3 days ago but I have some issues with my headlights when I turn the lights on after 1 min show the yellow bulb on the dash and the message "Front Left dipped beam not working" and the light goes off, the first 2 days was the right but now is left and sometimes it works fine on DRL but not always, you have an idea whats could be the problem?

Victor Roman-Nieves says:

Do you know how to resolve my problem?

Victor Roman-Nieves says:

Hello, Thank you for such a detailed video. By any chance do you have a video to correct the headlight when the shutters for high beam remain up? I engaged my high beam one evening and I couldn't disengage them afterwords.

Adam Bridgewater says:

Hey, great video! Just one note, it's difficult to nail this assembly without the actual headlight removed as you have it. Perhaps a quick update that shows the technique mentioned by another commenter—show us how to install with the ballast + ring + bulb preassembled. I spent a lot of time cramming my face into my car's nether regions making sure things were lined up, only for the bulb to squirm when I tried to line up the ring.

Craig says:

When I removed light from my 2007gti the entire assy came out when I removed the ignitor. Had to carefully grab the base of the bulb with needle nose pliers and rotate the bulb to get it out. I decided then to put the entire assy together and put it back as it came out – difficult but practiced with the old bulb first.

Carlos Robles says:

I replaced a bulb and forgot to put the cap on the back of the headlight back on, I then drove the car for a bit and it rained and now my light went out. What could have fried? I swapped the igniter and bulb but its none of those things. Is it the ballast?
