theres no reason whatsoever to take that egr off mate. that egr will be
exactly the same 48hrs later. i had an egr that only had a 1/2″ hole thru
the crud(now, that really needed cleaning!). honestly, when ya start taking
off things that dont need to be off, thats when you start getting new
problems. If it aint broke, dont fu*k about with it!(on tdi’s)

My 2001 VW Jetta has recently started jerking and spewing black smoke when
I accelerate up hill and on the interstate. I took it to advance and had it
hooked up to a computer and it read that there was a large vacuum leak.
Could this be the EGR Valve that is messed up?

The speed if ny car doesn’t pass 120km in hour I cleaned the valve but
still the same problem .do you think the turbo is died?

Brian Gammage says:

With the EGR valve removed it would be a good idea to remove the inlet
manifold and clean this out aswell as the inlet manifold gets really gunked
up and causes the engine to go into limp mode over 3000 rpm. ( Over boost.)

Tomislav Stapic says:

hello can i clean my egr with contact spray?and could you post a video how
to remove your intake manifold?thanx

BMAC VAGS says:

Thank you for taking the time to watch my videos, I truly appreciate it.
Your car will run perfectly fine without a egr valve in it, in fact it will
run better. The egr valve works like eating regurgitated food, you will
digest more of the nutrients (Fuel) but there will be down sides. The
problem you may have is with the emissions test, the emissions may read
higher because it is not being re burnt. Also it can cause a slight judder
when you turn it off but nothing major. Did that help?

As always a nice simple and concise video

BMAC VAGS says:

Yes it is possible, but it is easier just to put a delete blank on the
recirculation pipe, cost you maybe £5 and 30 minutes

Is it possible to remove the EGR in a 2006 jetta TDI, and it still be
runnable? My brother has his off in his ’98 Jetta TDI and it runs fine.
(Don’t need that shit!, also a mad coal roller) I heard that in a ’06 model
the jetta want start. just curious as to why that is.

Roy Alexander says:

Hi I’ve got an 04 passat and the engine looks similar and I can see the EGR
but its put together differently. Is it the same technique but different
orientation or is it a different removal process?

Good vid! Try Mr Muscle spray oven cleaner which works a treat cleaning the
carbon out. It’s wicked stuff tho, so keep those rubber gloves on and
protect your hands. Leave it on for about 15 mins and everything comes up
sparkly then a rinse off a a quick spray with carb/brake cleaner. Of course
your wife/girlfriend will kill you but it’s a risk you take, haha!

lennonpolo says:

Great video! I wish you work on the newer models!

Haggy58 says:

Hi Boyd, is the EGR really necessary? And if so I assume everything else
beyond it will be full of crud? It looks horrendous and my Golf has just
done 110k miles so must be in need of a clean but I’ve seen other posts
saying the ERG valve is removed?? p.s spent he whole night watching your
vids and all I can hear is the sig. music now!!

Sajeev Kumar says:
