I’ve a 2001 Bora which shares a lot with the Mk 4 Golf. How do I replace the bulbs in the rear interior lights (lights are above the doors) please?

Looking up something else and came across your video… I thought I had to take the whole console apart… thank you thank you…

Same here.
Two years in the dark… until I saw this video a few days ago. Ordered the bulb online and it arrived today and in a couple of minutes I had lights again!!!
My bulb was pretty tight, but the needle nosed pliers with a bit of tape was a great idea.
Thanks!!! 🙂

I found this video by accident while trying to find some other DIY Jetta tips. Followed the directions and now I can see the dials for the first time in almost 5 years. In fact, the whole process only took under 2 minutes was faster than the time it took the parts counter at the dealership to find the bulb! Thanks so much for this video.

Thank you. This was ideal- well spoken, clear, great camera angles.Saved me $100 at the dealership. Greatly appreciated.

I had that problem for a year … Thanks 2 u i fixed it

4Diyers says:

I’ve never had any issues myself, but I have heard of others having that problem. So that could be the possible cause unless there is an internal electronic problem with the hvac controls themselves rather than the switch or there is a short in the wiring.

Many thanks for posting. Made the job so easy! Thx

i bought an MK4 jetta a few months ago and i just have a question for you, Could it be possible that the woman who owned it before me replaced this light and did not put the HVAC switch in the off postition when she put it back because my air is always on?

J Callan says:

Just to clarify, are you saying that the knob should be extracted when it is in position 2? I have the same problem with my beetle and don’t want to mess anything up. Thanks

ChayD says:

LEDs only work one way round, try inserting the bulb the other way.

Very helpful, thank you.

I replaced my light bulb with led bulb but it won’t work. It’s in the right position and everything, what’s wrong?

Toonami M. says:

Thanks man. Finally my hvac control panel lights again.
p.s. It’s the same on my Golf mk4 1998

Francine Wearne says:

Done this with my VW Beetle, bulb working but fan not…. Just to mention if you extract the dial when it is on 2 rather than 0 it wont spring the fan contact out of place and the fan won’t work. A lesson learnt the hard way by myself which led to the whole unit being taken apart and the contact being put back in the right place.

Melissa Carnegie says:

Been wondering how to do this for over 7 years, lol. Wish I’d checked on here before now. Job done. Thank you so much.

Floog Mungle says:

N.B. Check bulb operation before reinstalling control knob.

TheValeterUK2 says:
