Hey man, I literally just pulled the codes last week. #3 ignition coil is bad and all four are misfiring. A new coil pack is 160 before taxes at Autozone….look it up on youtube…it’s a max 40 minutes to install if you’ve never done it before. Hell, if you’re in East TN I’ll take if off your hands if you’re going to junk it. 😀
Same there with my 2003 2.0 5 speed. Pulling out of driveway, I popped it into neutral then car started shuttering like crazy and sounded horrible, looked down to my gauges and CEL was flashing. Had my buddy come over and pull the code and it was same as above, Cylinder 1 misfire. Too poor to buy a new one so junk yard here I come!

There is a VW Recall on 1.8T Coilpacks so ring your dealership and ask if your vehicle is down for recall
