Chris Vallone says:

Hmmm yeah, I dunno man, you can do it, but I do not recommend it. To do the
job right, the body should come off the pan. You need to get the BugMeVideo
dvd on floor and heater channel replacement.

alexcockerill says:

chris! seen many of your videos, can you explain to me how to replace the
heater channels without removing the pan?? i want to do so with my car. i
think i understand, unbolt, cut them out lift up, weld in then bolt in and
done? sounds easy… am i close?

bugmania says:

its amazing how rotten those heater channels are, im so glad mine are in
great shape cos it looks like hard work. is there salt on the roads in
winter there to be so rusty

chane67vdub says:

Yep I want the same year if I could find around here

zodiam1 says:

Thanks for recommending the Bug ME videos!!! They have been a God-send!!

aneyesky says:

Serio needs better eye protection. Those micro arcs can scar permanently! I
know some old timers that have issues from plasma cutting with no shading.
Another interesting video Chris. Mike from Oregon

monkey08642 says:

Mr Vallone… you sir, are awesome.

Chris Vallone says:

Ah that is awesome man. When you are done with the car, email it to me, I
will post it on my site.

Chris Vallone says:

I have videos on my site on “what to look out for before buying a bug” Like
9 part video on what to look for. Also, in this video and the part two of
this video, I mention that you can use an angle grinder and a sawzall.

vwmetal66 says:

I have a question not about the heater channels but of the actual car.
Wasn’t the 53 the last year of the split window and the first year of the
Oval Window Dash???? I could be wrong.

Chris Vallone says:

That video is available, I mention it a few times throughout this series.
The bugmevideo series has a dvd on heater channel restoration. It is out
there, and has been for over 10 years.

Andrew Shepherd says:

I bought a 1971 super two years ago as my first car. It was cheap and
looked ok so i thought classic car for good price alright. Since it has
become a mini resto project for me and my dad. You and your videos have
helped me tremendously. Without you i would not have near the knowledge I
do today about classic VW’s and for that I greatly thank you. Keep you
loving what you’re doing and helping youtubers like me with their cars.
Cheers

Speedtimesthree says:

Your videos are unreal man. I’m about to buy my first ’63 Beetle. You are
helping me choose the right one by a great deal! One question though,
couldn’t you have just used an angle grinder to remove the old channel?
Anything in particular that i should look out for in a 63′ Bug that is a
big no no? Thanks heaps from Australia

Chris Vallone says:

Thank you so much my friend. Here to help you guys.

Chris Vallone says:

No, oval dash actually came in middle part of ’52. Split windows ended at
the very start of March of ’53, so ovals started March 10th of ’53. So it
reality, 53 is a very short year for the oval window, and it is the only
year that the oval had 25hp, thankfully I have that original motor for this
bug. Go to my website and see the progression on this car, it is stunning.

Chris Vallone says:

No doubt Mike! And guess what, it has happened to him before. Magnets took
the shavings out.

cris eurich says:

Wow. I have to get all your DVD’s. Very valuable information in there. My
’67 will be better for it I’m sure. Your website has helped me be sure i
understood the job before doing anything on my car.

Петър Долашки says:
