Classic VW BuGs How to Install Pop Out Windows for Beetle Type 1 Sedan

Here is a short video on “How to Install” the famous Pop Out Windows for your Vintage VW Beetle. They are a great accessory and add great air flow through the cabin. I feel they are especially necessary for Ragtop Sunroof VWs. They also boost the value of your resto.

Hey Chris, Where's the best place to buy these pop out hinges? I recently got some pop out windows at a swap meet but I only have half of the hinges. I can't seem to find any that aren't in a kit.

David Anderson says:

Do you have to have the chrome trim on the quarter window for pop outs?

Does anyone know if there's a place one can take the original Windows from a 62 and get the seal and chrome done to convert them to the pop out style?

Your videos have been a big help during the process of my build. Now that I'm about to finish it up I was looking at purchasing some pop outs from J bugs and wasn't sure of The quality and fitment. Once again your video has answered a ton of questions for me and I am very thankful.

Adan Ramirez says:

My headlights and turn lights won't work on my 68. Is there any way I can find out what's the problem?

nitrosport5 says:

one trick i use if someone is afraid of a drill bit going too far and poking the outer body panel, you can slip a piece of fuel line or vacuum line over the bit leaving however much of the bit exposed that you need. and when you get through the hole the rubber acts as a cushion and wont mess up the paint on the side you are drilling from either.

lunarpking says:

My 74 Super Beetle came with these installed, they are fantastic for air flow. That and they kill the helicopter sound I get when I only have the front windows open.

DJ4C0B says:

Now we just got to see how to install safari windshield

patrick harvey says:

I have a '73 super, will the 64 and onward kit fit or are the windows a different size to accommodate the crescent vent?

Jorit Hanneforth says:

someone told me not to use WD40 with rubber sealings, only silicone. WD40 will make the rubber hard and unflexible after some time!
good job though 😉

EL PUERCO says:

Is the mounting similar for Type 3's?

Hood Historian says:
