THANK YOU TIMES A MILLION!! 😀 😀

Sorry, I know…the all caps things is terrible.
However, I am SOOOO appreciative!
Very cool & informative! ;)

malt1618 says:

Thanks this was very helpful. I happened to use jumper cables to keep the
old battery connected to the terminals while installing the new one.
Everything went smoothly for me doing this, but it looks like those who
want to be cautious should use the OBD memory saver as described.

Paul Boyer says:

Excellent pictures and explanation.
Two additional points. The plate which goes at the bottom front of the
battery to hold in down should have the two prongs pointed back toward the
rear of the car. These two prongs engage with spots of the VW battery
which make it very secure.
A PROBLEM: It is very difficult to get the plate screwed in place without
cross-threading the screw. It should be handled very delicately. My
problem is that someone else before me has always cross-threaded already,
thus making it a real struggle to get it right.

TOMMY GUNS says:

Bravo! I will be doing this in 12 degree weather tomorrow! Yay! Fml

I have a 2003 Jetta. My book says to have a temporary power source before
disconnecting the batter. Is this necessary, or can I just disconnect it
and continue?

nfn2000 says:

Hi there! IS the procedure to replace the battery on a 2006.5+ (MKV) Jettas
the same? I read somewhere that you have to leave the ignition on otherwise
the airbag might come off?! Would be super if there was a MKV Jetta battery
change video. Thanks.

space toaster says:

How important is the hold down bolt? When putting it back in it slipped and
fell down into the car somewhere. I doubt I’ll be able to retrieve it
easily. Does the battery really knock around that much while driving? None
of the other cars I’ve had used a similar bolt.

mwdrabo says:

Great video. The hardest part of this operation is getting those two stupid
covers back together correctly.

Hi Rich. In the Haynes manual they say something about having to put in the
code for the radio so that the anti-theft program is reset. Can you comment
on that?
