until I saw you video.
agree with amasoak47, my 06 beetle 2.5, had an orange one and i could not
get that black one in just ordered the orange one, hopefully that fits
better.
Keeps the gas from leaking out of the tank. The car actually monitors the
pressure of the tank to check for leaks. An torn seal can actually cause a
check engine light.

@ georidescom, thanks for posting your video. I found your video after over
an hour trying to fit in the pump with a new seal, frustrated and made me
look stupid. I was told it was simple as “drop and lock”, what were they
talking about?. OMG! why did VW made such crappy design? I will try your
method tomorrow. Also I found out that the seal you had (same as mine) is
part # 1J0919133A (black) but there’s a 1J0919133B (orange) that’s supposed
to be an easier seal/gasket to work with. Thanks.
