Today we install and weld in the lower hinge pillar and test fit the drivers door. Restoring antique cars complete process. Howdy folks! https://airkewld.co/CT1 – I’ve teamed up with Pete at Airkewld to help move this project forward. Enjoy! Preservation, restoration, repairing antique vintage cars and trucks is my passion. This car was forgotten in a field in South Georgia for 40 years. Let’s bring it back to life. ctmoog, ct, ct’s garage
FYI I tack the piece in then cut right on top of the new piece. This gives the proper spacing for the butt weld and holds a true line.
Put your jack under the door ct
Slamming the door repeatedly doesn’t make it align better especially since it’s dropping a 1/2 in. You’re destroying the latch and striker every time you slam it.
You sprayed weld through primer on the back side of the new lower pillar. Why didn’t you spray it on the new rocker where you ground it to the bare metal?
All that bare metal under the pillar will continue to rust.
Great job CT !
Mighty impressive work. The Raven will need the same, eventually…
Compared to how it was, it's amazing to see so much done already. Your welding is getting better and better. It's a big learning curve, especially getting everything to line up right, so hard with all those curves. Nice job!!
