TOYOTA OWNERS! Never Make THIS Mistake When Buying Parts!

TOYOTA OWNERS! Never Make THIS Mistake When Buying Parts!

Dear Toyota Owners. I see this mistake take place every day at my shop when owners assume that original parts are not available or simply too expensive.

We have a 1997 Toyota T100 in the shop which is somewhat rare in my area because of rust with a clutch replacement job after the previous clutch was already replaced just over 1000 miles ago.

Why you might ask are we replacing the clutch again after it was replaced so shortly ago? Well the shop that replaced it assumed there were no original parts available and went with a racing clutch for a Toyota truck instead!

We redid the job using original part for an older truck which were readily available and showed up within a few days and with the exception of the flywheel actually cost less than the aftermarket replacements.

Always shop around for parts prices starting with the original part. Sometimes I am seeing that the original parts are the same price as good aftermarket, some times more and some times they’re even less.

Be aware of this as you shop for parts for your Toyota and Lexus. And of course like always ask the shop that fixes your car which parts are they using. You should know this before agreeing to jobs!

Tell the truth. Most Toyotass are rust buckets. Does Toyota not know how to build a frame?

I was a former Toyota parts Dept employee and I can tell you we still sold mechanical parts for FJ40’s. Toyota knows these vehicles run forever!

Enermax Stephens says:

Toyota trucks are still very basic, I don't think they'll ever catch up to the F150.

Here in Florida, I see those old T100’s going down the freeway every so often about as clean as that one

I have one. The base models are the DX, or what would now be called an SR. I've had people offer me cash on the street but I don't plan to ever sell it.

Jlb6319 says:

I’m now watching this and I completely understand how he feels about how the owner got treated. I actually used that kind of clutch on my old Toyota Corolla and when I pulled the transmission I found out that the racing clutch disc like the one in the video had ground away the metal from a lightweight hks flywheel

I'm a Toyota OG from the 70's. Love this video.
