I'm old & certain I will never be in an EV car , no matter the battery type!
It appears to me that the many solid-state battery research efforts mirror the research efforts to find cures for cancer and viable fusion energy reactors. How long have we been waiting for actual cancer cures and successful fusion energy reactors?
I'm staying with fossil fuels for as long as the aviation industry does.
Yes, to your question, I will buy a solid state EV! Why? Because, Mullen Automotive Inc. (MULN), said they are going to fix the problem of; when EVs run out of juice on the highway.
While Japans is developing, America and Europe are scratching their be-hinds, China is building a factory capable of supplying enough solid state batteries to produce two million EVs per year, oh my.
As I have stated previously; if the battery had not been a suppressed technology for the past two hundred and fifty years, we would have the perfect battery today. If EVs had been developed for the past one hundred twenty years, we would have the perfect EV everything, plus, things we have not thought of yet.
I think I'd still rather have a hybrid or an EV with a range extender, at least.
I thought Toyota was focusing on hydrogen?

Humans are funny to watch. EV cars will not go over 100 thousand miles before you have to change the battery pack. Now you have got to shel out 4 to 5 thousand dollars. My gas car hit a 100 thousand miles and all I've done to it is oil changes and 1 set of tires. Also wait til you have to have your EV worked on WOW thousands and thousands of dollars. Whic one do you think is the smart choice?
I think you'll need three to four energy sources to power cars. Bio diesel and hydrogen are possibly needed
For me an EV is about like a Covid19 vaccine. It seems like a good idea but when the political class pushes as hard as they are, I become very skeptical.
John B. Goodenough at the University of Texas, the creator of the LiFePo (lithium iron phosphate) battery technology is currently working on solid state battery technology with others on his team. Last time I spoke to him 4 years ago to thank him for the amazing LiFePo battery on my escooter, he said they were close to breaking solid state, but there was a long way to go before we'd see it commercially viable, at least from their work at TSU. John Goodenough was 99 years old when I spoke to him then and he had not yet won the Nobel Prize he received in 2019 for his work on lithium iron phosphate technology.
What I think and believe is e-cars are still a decade or two, maybe even three away because people won't be able to to and many won't want to give up their internal combustion engine cars, trucks, and SUV's. Battery technology needs a huge jump to the point they are good for a minimum of 20 years before e-vehicles can truly go mainstream outside of cities and islands.
Commercial solid state is but a dream, perhaps some day.
Forget Ev. I am gonna convert my truck and car to horse drawn ( just one good draft horse team ) ! You will never go out to your garage to find a newborn v8, 6cyl. Or 4 cylinder engine !
I use solid-state whatchacallits in my computer… cost more but supposed to give better and more reliable performance. I thought Toyota wasn't going down the EV road anyway? And didn't Japan just close down its auto industry?

Electricity is os expensive in australia it is 33 c a KW and about to go up again here in FNQ , having an electric car is in sane , ubless of course yo have 2 tesla batteries @ $11 000 each 20 kw of soalr poannels another $30 000 then to buy an Electric car for $120 000 with only a 10 year average life span ….

I would never buy electric car infrastructure is not good till another 20 years and no one here in USA will be electric vehicles will be repair hearing USA good luck on that and they will never be produced in USA we don't have enough microchips for gasoline vehicles it's just take longer to get your car
Sick of this push towards electric vehicles. In between the EV cultists and our own government they want to force us out of our gas vehicles. The last straw is when gas prices skyrocketed and right away this administration pushes their electric vehicles. It's all for greed.
