When you can get 63 MPG (imperial) from a 2.5 Camry Hibrid?? Why can' t EVs charge them selves as they drive? Seems simple to put a genie on each wheel to recharge.

Hey as a member of those loonies in CA, I can tell you that 20% of those early adapters of EV with very limited range are unhappy. But what you did not share is that 35% of the internal combustion engine drivers want to go electric but can't afford the price of EV's. You really are the type of person who should live in Tennessee. It is a good thing you are old because your mode of transport and income is a dying entity.
I would bet that if you were giving comments on the early automobiles that it would be negative. I can here you now, where are you going to get the gasoline from, who's going to fix it, there is no infrastructure to support them. With a horse all you have to do is stop at the side of the road and let them eat.
Toyota doesn't want to go electric because they can't compete with Tesla. Tesla has the name and the share of the EV market that Toyota may never be able to catch up to. I will never own a Tesla because of the "right to repair." Next year I will be buying either the Iconic 5 or Aptera.
Earlier today I drove from Palm Springs to my beloved San Diego and I counted more Tesla's on the road then BMW's.

We drive CNG car 60% cheaper than gas , gets me from point a to b . 8 years and still going on. Resell price dropped just by 50% in last 8 years. Suzuki engine.

Scotty, I respect Toyota for not installing turbos in all of their cars and trucks. They still offer a broad range of vehicles with very reliable and efficient naturally aspirated piston engines. Millions of folks will never buy turbos—and never buy an EV.

Scotty, my truck battery dies when I leave my vehicle parked to go work for about 3 weeks . I jumpstart it and I can use it as if nothing is wrong. What could it be? Battery if less that a year old on my 06 silverado

Once oil subsidies for oil is lifted just like in Europe and the latest in Lebanon, maybe $5 per gallon can be expected, then Scotty is right Toyota will be in trouble

Toyota should be focused on creating a plant to manufacture their own computer chips. They've suffered like other car makers by being dependent on chip manufacturers through this long term shortage and it's hard to find 2021 models to purchase as a result.
I see it this way battery cars suck in newengland.
Hybrid are better and what about this gasoline was dumped as trash before from production of heating oil.
