Lorrin Barth says:

To be able to judge whether the repair makes sense or not I''d have to see the amount of corrosion on the underside of the vehicle. This is a salt belt car.

Barrie Myers says:

I’ve never seen anything so ridiculous and pedantic!
It should be a simple plug and play, not all that time consuming component swap outs.
Madness.

nicholas muni says:

I would not have considered this job as the owners unless it was The Car Nut doing the job.

Natural Self Yoga says:

Even better. NO ITS NOT WORTH REPLACING THE HYBRID BATTERY. If you have a bad hybrid battery, I'll buy it from you for half the blue book so you can get a new car.

Irvin Romo says:

AMD would it be possible to upgrade these batteries to Lithium Ion battery?

Natural Self Yoga says:

Why is this video an hour long? I can help you. It's 1000 bucks. And runs like new. They will come to you and swap it out in an hour. It's worth it. I have owned about 8 prius. I'm currently driving one with 483k miles (original battery) and one with 435k miles (original battery) . Don't waste an hour of your time. Such a shame. I love toyotas, hybrids, and learning. But I value my time.

J Maxwell says:

Dude… you didn’t vacuum before or after work… lame.

RICER LIFE92 says:

There is an online store that sell A the Battery or B newer generation Cells why is that not an option for you. You have to replace all cells what you think.

T J says:

I had a 2007 Camry and boy it was burning oil like crazy, got ride of it at a 160k miles.

Baltazar F Tongco says:

You said "I wish car designers would take this apart". I agree.

lou faiella says:

Great job!!
Perfect logic.
A new one would be about $50000? after taxes and fees etc.
A used one will cost much $$$ and will need the same repairs – or more.
This will last another 100000 miles and then sell for a good price since it is in good shape.

Bob Icard says:

Very smart decision by the owner. I have a 2006 4Runner with 152,000 miles and have spent less than $500 on repairs because I serviced it as Toyota recommended. I was recently offered $21,000 for it by a 4Runner enthusiast, but to me it's as good as it ever was. We've owned only Toyota & Lexus for 31 years with extreme satisfaction.

1951rlc says:

In today's market I can see how this repair can make sense.
However, I can't see how one could be happy with a car that only has 137K and need upwards of $6000 in repairs, after having a engine replaced.
Is this the new mindset, replace your car after 100K or be ready for costly repair in the near future?

George Da Boss says:

Great Decision.

Arnold Schmidt says:

I have watched you fiddle with this battery R & R for the last 30 minutes. Now you are a well trained heavily experienced technician who knows what you are doing.
I like simplicity.
Even though Toyota engineers designed this battery pack very well, their logical thought pattern is straight forward.
However by seeing just how much labour is involved in this procedure is almost equal to removing a cylinder head on a 1979 Chevy pickup small block.
I have no fears with removing a head ,but to realize the high voltage risks is what scares me.
I don't believe that I will ever own an all electric vehicle.
But you have shown me just what's involved.
Thanks .
