Hi, i’m having a Corolla S 2009 and i’m trying to replace the front wheel brake and rotor but my caliper is not the same as the one you show in your video, having some more video with different kind of caliper on a Corolla S 2009. Even the piston push in, there’s no place to slide the caliper on the rotor with brakes in it. My caliper didn’t get seperate in two pieces like the one in the video.
Thanks
Thanks
Those cab. bolts just need snugged up good! N a screwdriver ant going to hurt it! Other than yankee ackcent this dude done fine! Jack stands r nice if ur going to b up under car eating lunch! Dont for get pump breaks b for u head out!!!! Good job! Yankee!
im doing mine for the first time on my 2010 model s tomorrow. I am proud to say that my front breaks have lasted over 55,000 miles, and my rotors are still in good shape according to the toyota dealership. the clips that you saved from your old pads, did the new pads you purchased come with replacements, or do you have to re use the old ones? and also the grease you used on the guide pins and the piston is that necessary?
That’s wrong. with brake jobs now-a-days, it’s a requisite to change rotors with the pads. they are designed to warp now to the point they need to either be tossed or turned down. since it’s a composite material, turning them down is impossible. the only thing you can do is buy new ones. it’s inadvisable to reuse the rotors. I know from experience
Thanks for the Video, Excellent job. I have a 2010 corolla, i will change the pads soon and im gonna be using your video to do it, mine has 38 k on it. I am just curious, why didnt you change the rotors at the same time sine you the caliper mount off. i am thinking about changing the rotors too, or do you think i should just keep the old ones? i live in upstate NY so the roads are pretty salty during the winters months. thanks again for the video.

Hey good video! I have a 2010 S model, I think I installed the pins that go into the shims incorrectly, or something. They arn’t nice and tight like you show in the video (they still go into the shim) but I drove it at highway speeds and re-inspected and everything looked fine. Do you think its fine or should I reinstall? Thanks!
Really good video and you go the extra step on greasing the guide pins and the inside of the caliper. I can guarantee you that not many people do that extra step. One thing that would be nice to show is where you put the hydraulic jack under your car. Again very good video and well explained.
What about the others question? I have more in other comment, it will be nice, so others persons can learn, maybe my questions are coming from the mind of others. Thank you.
No, the truth is the way I drive every day. I never go close to the one in front of me, so I dont kill my brake pads like other crazy people on the streets and hwy. If I see the red light I dont push gas pedal just to get stock in the red light, so it give me time until green light go on or if I got it, I dont have to brake hard. When I’m cornering, never brake, cause I coming slow much before getting the corner. If I need to brake hard, it do it perfectly, I drive consciously. And the others Q?
Highway driving and coasting to stop lights will not wear out your brakes.Sounds like you have what they call a floating brake caliper.Try goggling it to see how they work.
What that little boot on the guide pin does? Can I clean all those parts with brake cleaner spray, all around? What are the best pads? what are the best rotors?
THANK YOU, very much for any reply. I appreciate your help and your video to all of us.

Thanks for the info. I will be doing a brake job this coming weekend on an LE trim, same year. This has been a huge help already.

I never work on a vehicle with it supported just by a jack.
and prying against the rotor with a screwdriver? … I hope no one follows your example.
why on earth are you working with the car on a jack and not stands?!
I do not at this time.
Do you have any video for corolla 2005 model?
The 2005 uses different pads so it will not be the same.
Is this workable same on 2005 model as well?
The pads did not come with clips. You should grease your guide pins but you do not have to grease the back of the pads or piston.

Thank you very helpful.
Why do rebuilt calipers come with silicon past on the slides?
The rotors were in good shape that is why i did not replace them.If yours are rusted or running out then it would be wise to replace them.
