Unfortunately only time will tell whether these engines are reliable in the long term or fill up junkyards like Northstar Engines.
More stuff to break, less people who know how to fix it
The only Nissan vehicles I could considering buying are the Nissan Trucks like the Frontier, Titan or Titan XD…..those use regular transmissions not CVT and the trucks are solid….body on frame.
Somehow I'm reminded of the famous Cadillac 8-6-4 engine…Anyone remember that? This new engine seems a little complex.
I would not want to be fixing any engine issues, out of warranty. Too much tech & a lot to go wrong.
It looks so expensive and it may not last as long
Who is going to buy a Datsun over a Mazda,ROFL.
Too much technology I wouldn,t pay for it.
More components internally means it demands oil changes at a timely matter. Skipping even one can cost you down the road
Love how Scotty explains things….but all high tech comes with a price, right? Scotty tells it as it is. Me? Sure I have a newer automobile; but today I set the idle mixture of my '49 Chev with a screwdriver.
So besides the frontier, which has been very reliable, what other Nissan vehicle jumps out as a reliable, desirable ride compared to others?

They can't work conventional engines. Damn sure they will totally F this up
All this studying Nissan does on everything else, but making their awful transmissions actully last. So it really doesn't mean much if your car is always breaking lol
What a potential greasy horror show
US should switch to metric system. This does not make any sense.
Engine displacement -> in LITERS, but fuel consumption in gallons.
Imagine a L4 engine that has 0.528344 gallons of displacement.
Sounds American, sounds right…

Whilst I'm really impressed that they have actually managed to do this unfortunately it looks just like there's more to go wrong the usual suspect is more moving parts
Hard for me to buy a Nissan when everyone I know with one is replacing their tranny
