That rust is much worse than my 92 and my 02. Must've come from the north east.
Excellent demonstration of vehicle defects and general condition. Precise , relevant narrative in a calm controlled verbal pace. Scotty Kilmer are you paying attention, please?
We all love YOUR love for straight-ahead advice. Whether pracricality of a repair or the Modern times of inflated everything.
Excellent @ 10:50 with the dry observation….I have an 02 that went through the frame rebuild it was pretty good overall, still not sure why Toyota didn't just buy it back (or credit towards a new truck) it was in 2014 vehicle had 175 K about then
I maintain my 4Runner with fluid film and corrosion x – keeping rust at bay. Watching this confirms why I do what I do. Thanks for the video.
For practically ANY vehicle that's 20 yrs is ALWAYS cheaper completely rebuild it. Versus a brand new version of the same make and model.
Not only is it worth 4k now, used car repairs vs depreciation on something newer means it will be worth another couple thousand every so often to stay after the rust remediation.
2006 ford ranger 4×4 with only 75k miles but a rusted out driver's side floorpan from a leak. Is it worth fixing and how much would you pay? Frame barely has surface rust.
I just had to pay that for my 09 tundras secondary air system when it imploded! Worth it over paying $80k a a new truck.
Yeah got to get your piece
Want a minute…you mean you were not the one I gave my SSN to so you could arrange to send me the Lambo I won?
On TheCarCareNut channel, he says especially on Toyotas if you are replacing a spring style hose clamp, use another spring style instead of the worm gear. He said Toyota has done the research and they went with those because they maintain the same amount of pressure on the fitting as parts expand and contract. Compared to a worm gear clamp that puts more pressure on parts as they expand and less pressure as they cool. It's not the end of the world he says but if you have them both, use the proper one.
For the price these things command, I want some decent corrosion protection from Toyota. Its not just the frame recall either, like Wizard shows. EVERYTHING on these Taco's rusts. Every bit of hardware, every clamp. These years of truck were a huge letdown from Toyota. For 4k in repairs you can try a Ranger or S10, and if its rubbish you can get another whole truck and still be under the 4k. Why on earth would I pay up to 20k for one of these when its still going to punch me in the wallet for rust repair?
Cuba same thing ,lots of old cars fixed .
I’d put tube bumpers on it and watch the oil, and hit the bottom with fluid film for rust. It’s a Tacoma not a Honda ridgeline, drive it
