How to Replace Your Vehicle’s Battery (Toyota Corolla)

Watch my video to learn how to replace your vehicle’s battery. I performed the replacement on my 2005 Toyota Corolla.

You’ll need a wrench (socket preferred), gloves, eye protection, new battery, and battery acid cleaner (if needed).

This video is entirely instructional, and you assume all risk associated with performing maintenance on your vehicle.

question if i replace my battery will the clock and radio be resset or have issues with raido locked?

tjk100 says:

Straight forward replacement for most Toyota cars – BUT – remove the cables in the correct order: To remove OLD battery always remove Negative first – than the Positive. Hooking up a NEW battery always connect Positive first than the negative. Search this if you have questions.

What to do when you have a battery wire that's to small to fit over the battery prong itself?
I am not at all motor savy.
THANKS

Berthasfave1 says:

David, you said you couldn't get any credit for the old battery. Why was that? I thought if you returned the old battery, you get a credit.

ourlegacy says:

How do you reconnect your battery without setting off the alarm? Is there prep work to reconnecting the battery without setting off the dealer installed alarm? My 95 Corolla doesn't seem to have a reset button anymore and the keyless entry remotes aren't very responsive and reliable.

Bradley Buffett says:

unclear how to reattach the vertical rod with the hook at the bottom … your video skips over that.

Thanks. today, I repeated the process shown in your video on my 2003 Toyota Tacoma. To prepare for my trip to Walmart ( Walmart Supercenter in Kenner, LA ), I used my phone in my right hand to take pictures of my battery with my left hand holding a ruler across the length and the width. Also, I wrote down the battery dimensions: width, length and depth on a piece of paper. I walked into Walmart with my ruler and the piece of paper. When I visited the Walmart battery section, I used their mini-computer on the wall to select my auto(truck) make, year, model, and engine. I was returned with a list of many possible batteries. I chose a battery using the mini-computer list, my phone pictures, and verified with my ruler measurements that it would fit in my truck. Later, during my actual battery install, I ended up leaving the battery strap on. Seven years ago when Goodyear changed my battery they left the strap on. I figured that any future removal of the battery would be easier with the strap on and my truck hood closed and opened without any problems. … Thanks! for the video, I re-watched it many(4) times before I did my battery change!
