Outstanding vidio, you save us a lot . Actually a cable on one door is
partially blocked and slammed on the rear side and making noise when I try
to close. I will see a Toyota dealer to address this issue….

Edward Wu says:

This video is spot-on. Perfect instructions. I replaced the hinge on my
minivan in under 30 minutes with only the help of this video and the door
works like new. Thank you!

Thanks for taking the time to do and post. Not the problem im having right
now, but stumbled on your video by chance. Sure it will come in handy in
the future.

Jerry Baiamonte says:

is this similar to the drivers side sliding door? It is not power on that
side.

Go Ontryit says:

Glad to hear it went well; always nice to know it helped someone else!

Go Ontryit says:

I’m glad you were able to save some money. Thanks for the update on the
cost the dealership wanted to correct the problem. Where did you end up
getting the part?

Clinton Chapman says:

Great video. My door is not latching well when it closes and the hinge is
loose. Without taking the hinge out, it looks like the wheels on the top
are very loose. Too bad you lost remote function. Hopefully there is no
trick to keep that working…

Brendan Moynahan says:

GREAT video! Thank you so much for putting together and posting. You saved
me tons of time, and I got both door hinges done in about 30 minutes after
watching your video. Really appreciate it!

Jerry Baiamonte says:

Thanks! That was my concern. My door is not closing tight. It is securing,
but not getting that total lock and the interior light remains on. Do you
this that it could be the Center Hinge?

Go Ontryit says:

That is exactly why I made it; there is nothing else out there that
explains the process. Thanks for watching!

Fahim Khan says:

my cable just snapped – any suggestions –

Go Ontryit says:

The TSB for the warranty enhancement is T-SB-0280-10. Do a Google search
and you should be able to find a PDF with an explanation of the door issues
and Toyota’s solution. In theory, the cable should be included in the
repair.

Go Ontryit says:

Try the dealership and see if the warranty enhancement will cover it now
that it has snapped. What frustrated me was the fact that they would not
replace the cable until it snapped, even though the plastic coating was
failing and it was just a matter of time. If it were me, I would ditch the
cable. The two sliding doors on my van now glide like butter. No more hassle
with the cable, door not staying put, hard to close etc.The doors actually
works better than when we bought the van.Lithium spray!

Bee Doo says:

Awesome video! Very Thorough! No sure if it’s the problem. The center hinge
is sagging and the hinge itself is scraping the body parallel to the bottom
of the rear window.

Go Ontryit says:

Yes, just order the part for the driver’s side. Everything else should be
the same, but you will not have to deal with the cables that open the door
automatically.

Gr8cobbler says:

Thanks, great video. I spent more time finding the right part on the
internet and painting it than I did actually replacing the hinge because of
your video documentation. I’m sure it would have taken 2-3 times longer
with a lot more head scratching and thinking about it. You saved me about
$200 on the job from the dealer quote, returned the better part of a Sunday
afternoon to me, and I’m a hero at home. A nice Trifecta. Thanks again.

skiebax says:

Very helpful…Thanks for making this video , will definitely save me a lot
of money. I bought the center hinge online for $96.00. Toyota was charging
me over $300.00 dollars + parts to fix.

Go Ontryit says:

Does it scrape on the latch’s top (the one that is connected to the body of
the van) so that it looks like the metal is being worn off? Does the door
look like it is going to hit the body as it is closing? If you answered yes
to either of these questions, the answer is likely a “Yes”.

Slava Petrov says:

What is the OEM number of the cable that assists the sliding door?

Go Ontryit says:

68380–08031 (right side) and 68390–08031 (left side) I bought at my local
dealership because they took a % off the order. If I were to do it again,
this place looks like it would work just fine: parts.olathetoyota.c o m

Gaston Narducci says:

Where did you get the part from? What’s the part #?

Nathan Lewis says:

Thanks, worked great! I was thrown off because for me the hinge itself (not
the door) was sagging and scraping the paint. It wasn’t until I installed
the new one that I understood how the hinge clearance is controlled by its
attachment to the door (through the pin you point out), not by the rollers
themselves. The mileage was already out of the warranty enhancement limit,
so I didn’t both checking with Toyota.

David Ammerlaan says:

Did this fix today. 1hr work. Saved hundreds. Thanks a million. !

David Ammerlaan says:

like new! i have the same problem and am going to do this soon!

Fong Liou says:

Thank You for this helpful video. You just saved me about $500.00.
