Good stuff but shine a light on there while demonstrating! Haha, most peeps
need that visual. You should also explain that when adding coolant it is
easy to overflow the radiator (pour slowly) and you should also run the
engine until it is at operating temperature and then check the expansion
tank and add more coolant if necessary. There is always an air bubble in
the system that has to work it’s way out of the expansion tank. Fill to the
HOT indicator on the reservoir. Then check again after the vehicle
completely cools down. If the level is below the COLD line, add more
coolant.

CountrySideClub says:

Correct, so that spine or what looks like the spring should be in the block
and the top side, head should be facing out, at 50 seconds on the vid, that
is the head or top and should be facing out the block and in the housing.
No problem good luck and thanks for SUBBing IN!!!

lexusfan100 says:

so you fill with coolant in the radiator hole and in the coolant reservoir
? i know there is level for the reservoir but for that other radiator hole
how much to fill

CountrySideClub says:

It is a good practice, I basically did it because most if not all of the
fluid came out when I took out the thermostat.

CountrySideClub says:

Hmmm, the thermostate should fit bottom down and the larger looking ring
piece should be facing out towards you, but it should fit flush in the
housing, make sure to take out the old one and compare it the new one you
got first, the parts store might have gave you the wrong one, but remember
it should sit flush without having to slam it in, the bolt the raidorator
hose and housing over it. let me know if you got it. and thanks for
whatching! Be sure to sub in

Car was over heating, how to check, turn the heat on, is it getting hot

Benjamin Connelly says:

Thank you sir! Question, though, I have a 2001 Avalon and the thermostat
housing is not as easily accessible as it was for your Camry. Any tips?

CountrySideClub says:

I haven’t done a Avalon but I also work at it in the sense if something is
in the way, I would take everything in the way out and/or off in order to
get to the housing and ensure it is sealed correctly with no leaks because
you don’t want to do it again.

OKBAOK says:

Why do u change the thermostat? What’s the problem? Thanks.

CountrySideClub says:

Oh Sorry, I didn’t say where it went, check at 1:11 and you will see that
the rubber gasket goes around the thermostat head, then you set the
thermostat in the housing. Hope you get it, let me know if you have any
additional questions and please be sure to subscribe, thanks for watching!

TCMYOU says:

Thank you for posting the video. It helped a lot… but can any one tell me
of the thermostat housing is slightly angled up or is it angled down? I
currently have it angled up and the radiator hose is now too short?

Joy Murphy says:

thanks. I did not know where the thermostat was located on my girlfriends
camry.

John Hantz says:

Thank you so much! This is very helpful.

TCMYOU says:

So I installed the housing upside down. The spout coming from the
thermostat should be level with the motor not angled up. The housing has a
slight raised part on the top side and the bottom has a spine. To clarify
the spine should be facing downward! Thank you!
