Very useful video. One helpful addition: the yellow electrical connector behind the upper glove box does not come apart like the others for which you compress a tab that releases the connector. For the yellow one, you pull back a "slide" on the side of it to make the release. I have purchased a modified one on Ebay as a replacement. Have almost finished the installing the new one, not possible without this detailed video. See also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb19p8zYeTg for replacing the meter itself.

Hi tank you for the video
I like to know how much is the cost to replace just the cluster.

Looks like this dude runs junk yard.

Excellent tutorial. Thank you

Excellent video, straight to the point, so many people post videos where they talk for 15 mins about unnecessary crap instead of just removing the piece, I wish more videos were like this, thank you, great video

Excellent tutorial. Thank you. My 2008 Prius instrument cluster often does not turn on when cold out (Minnesota). After warming up it will turn back on. I believe there may have been a TSB related to this. Is there an easy fix to this? Is the issue just some solder joints cracking, bad ribbon cables, etc? I have plenty of expertise with electronics, just need to know a likely place to look. I suspect the issue was cracking solder joints? Thank you for your time.

Very handy tool (yellow plastic), made quick work on those dash parts. Where can I buy one for my removal project?
Thank you !!

Thank you so much for this great video and I love the narration, sounds just like a patient, kindly, good-hearted uncle or dad/grand-dad, from the old-country. Warms my heart that fellow immigrants are posting to help folks with their auto-electronics DIY-repairs worldwide!

Adam Figueroa says:

I replaced and now the red triangle ONLY stays lit up even if I disconnect the 12-v battery. It used to go away when I disconnected the aux battery to reset the transmission fault but now it stays lit the whole time after the replacement. What do you think could be the issue?

Greg Yohn says:

Thanks! It saved me $900 to disassemble my dashboard.

Big help! I took on the task, in part by the encouragement you provided in this video. The repair of the combination meter was a total success. I replaced the 100 mfd 16v capacitor with a new 220 mfd 16 v cap…works better than new (esp after change to 220 mfd vice 100 cap). Thanks for all your effort to post this very helpful video.
