FATHER GUIDOSARDUCHI says:

One thing you need to be aware of…. Make sure your wheel is centered after you do this procedure. If it is off more than 15 degrees it will set the check engine light. Why? Because it has a steering sensor that allows usually plus or minus 15 degrees. If the steering wheel is off more than that amount while going straight down the road the steering sensor will set the light to let you know you are way off. Just a tip to let you know your attempt to correct was not close enough.

ChaosLord says:

Nice trick with the two layers of cardboard. One thing you don't want to do is crank the wheel at a standstill, especially on a solid surface. Doind so puts a lot of unnecessary stress on the steering system.

sirvayr says:

How do you know that the line from the rear wheel hub and front wheel hub are parallel to the centerline of the car? If not, you stringline is skewed.

Eric Martinez says:

Can I use this as permanent alignment?

Yaboi Smitty says:

sometimes the resting width or stance of the front is either wider or narrower on some cars…

I wish you would show how you get the string set up in place

That is some really thick twine you are using. I've done this procedure but I use kite string for a more accurate measurement.

Thank you for this video, I just had my car front alignment done and the mechanic said he had to use a kit. But my car still pulls (slighter) to the right while driving. I’m going to check the alignment now, thanks for the info.

RazorStrap says:

Tip. The tie rod turns needed can be calculated by the thread pitch.

jaglaus says:

A better way of loosening or tightening the jam nut on the tie rod end is putting a wrench on the flats of the tile rod end. That way your putting stress on the wrench and not the ball and socket of the tie rod end.

Foxie Dog says:

Everyone needs to check the brake hoses. I had NTB replace brakes, struts and shocks, new tires and problems started 5 times back to their shop. They had my car for a week. Full tank of gas , I told them to Drive it, there is something wrong!! They Never checked the brake hoses, I ended up having to replace the brakes, and rotors and being towed in. I need to write a letter to the owner of NTB. I gave them every opportunity to find what the problem was and told them I don't want my car back until it's fixed. Always,we couldn't find anything wrong and drove it around in the parking lot. I paid over 3000 for everything and got a lesson, stay with a locally owned garage.

William Helms says:

What about camber
