How to Install/Upgrade: V6 1" Master Cylinder on 4 cyl Toyota Pickup

Today I upgrade the original 13/16″ master cylinder in my 1985 Toyota 4×4 Pickup to a 1″ Master cylinder from a 1995 V6 truck. This larger master cylinder will match the v6 calipers I already installed on the truck. Last week I showed you how I painted this 1″ master cylinder to keep it looking good for years to come. I’ll also bench bleed it and pain the brake booster in this video.

Here’s the 1″ Master Cylinder I used, from a 1995 v6 4Runner: https://amzn.to/2PuIszn

In the process of doing this now on my 86 4runner. Love this channel!

Aaron Jones says:

Hey, do you know if this type of thing will work on a 2wd? I’ve got an 82 1-ton cab and chassis truck that I use as a flat bed work truck. Brakes are already a bit bigger on this, but still leave something to be desired

Jimmy Williams says:

Needed to see how to change out bad brake booster

Mark Reynolds says:

Interesting video, thanks for sharing this.

Dorman # 39996 with reservoir. 1" bore . mine is just like the one shown in this video. 53.00$ great deal

Vivienne Williams says:

Very informative video, thank you.

Carlos Morado says:

Do you have to upgrade brakes to change master cylinder?

Mitchell Stocker says:

V6 version calipers? Can you post a part link on those? Better brakes are always better

Doug says:

Thank you so much for this!

Daniel Good says:

Thank you sir

I plan on doing a master out of an fj80 however if you have stupid oversized tires, apparently you can fit the masters out of a 67 K5 blazer in our trucks with the T100 dual diaphragm booster. The Chevy master has a 1 and 7/8 inch bore which moves over 200% more fluid then the 1" Aisin master

Gabriel says:

Hey I'm trying to do the same update on my 84' with a dual diaphram booster and the v6 calipers. What type of v6 calipers did you use? [88-91' V6 – Stamped S12W or the 92-95' V6 – Stamped S13WB]. I have heard some of these might require wheel spacers to fit so am trying to avoid that.

bj42paul says:

Great video. And the comment at the end about other things looking bad after replacing MC and booster – Oh boy, do I get that. Just installed a new water pump at the front of the engine 🙂

Mikael Wise says:

Great video about to do the same to my 87 pickup… how did you determine which wire goes were when you swapped plugs?

N0MAD says:

Did it tow good? Trying to get an 80 hilux 4×4 to tow my boat lol

Diego C Guzman says:

I've been trying to find your video on how to convert the calipers into the v6 toyota calipers. I'm trying to do the same on my 87 toyota and i can't find the video anymore. Can i get your help here please ?
