hey and what about a short air intake? i cannot find anywhere how to plug
the hooses after changing from original airbox to short air intake :(
for all of you with the oil leak issue it is was actually the pcv valve on
my celica. once I replaced it with a new one I no longer had an oil leak.
If you take off the plastic cover on top as if you were changing the spark
plugs it is on top to the back on the right near the battery. It has a hose
attached to it. Replace it and notice a huge difference. I have also
replaced a few seals along the way. this helps too.
Why are your feels so sensitive right now?
@USGiorgi You can be all paranoid by a splash here or there, but the fact
is you’d have to submerge your Air filter before you experience hydrolock.
I avoid puddles and dont directly spray it at the car wash. Precautions can
be taken also there is a bypass valve. But if your careful you dont have to
waster your money on it.
hey i installed mine yesterday and i couldn’t find the vsv(not the evap)
that mounts on to the pipe (next to where you put the hose of that same
vsv) i guess european celica’s don’t have those… car runs fine and no
check engine light so i’m guessing it can’t do much harm. also, the slots
in the fenderguard just in front of the wheel are angled on mine, so water
can’t splash trough but air can flow easily… :-p
that is a nasty lookin filter youre replacing!
wish the video wasn’t so choppy. really needed to verify that I hooked mine
up correctly. good vid though
@endproductions15 It doesnt go anywhere, I just zip-tied mine up away from
everything. Essentially, its extra parts
how much u get your celica for?
I was wondering how many hoses did u connect because I bout a intake for
celica and I could only connect one what do I do with the rest

Might have been easier to do if you took the entire fender off (i know its
even more of a bitch).
lol…..it was the blue plug that gave me the cel. as soon as i
disconnected it, it was fine. is it correct that you should have one blue
and black plug disconnected? i have one black plug connected, and one black
plug disconnected. didnt see in video what u did with 2nd black plug.

@DxBOY617 no no oil problems yet thank god, and mine has had a motor swap
the current motor is somewhere in the 120-30,000 mile range.

@svendewulf Meh, I did this a year ago.. still running it in the same car.
Still taking it through heavy rain and what not, Simple bolt on. But If I
did it again, I’d just put a short ram in. Save time, and The GT isnt known
for its top end anyway, which CAI helps with.
I see you have some holes in the fender guard. I don’t understand how that
doesn’t throw water on the filter.
@MovementofTension yeah, i just have nothing to do with my money :-p and it
does increase fuel efficiency a little… it costed me around 240$… just
like to alter my car…

@svendewulf Interesting, So as it stands Cold air intakes support top end
yet both of our engines fundamentally have problems with producing this.
Yet you knew, but still opted to use a Cold air intake. Personally, with
you buying new, as well as being armed with this knowledge, it really seems
like you’re bent on wasting your time and money. I purchased mine used, for
100 bucks, and this is the first bolt on I had ever installed. Like I said
I would have gone with short ram next time.
@ChronicFilming No lol, the SRI is WAY!!!!!! EASIER. lol I mean.. you might
have to follow some minimal similiarities, but a SRI is Way easier of an
install.
@jdm0avy When I had my WRX, I bought a CAI filter which also went into the
fender. I cut the pipe and made it into a short ram because my friends WRX
waterlocked the engine while going through a small puddle after a
rainstorm.
@shandb9 I’m assuming you mean the air filter, as far as the mushroom
reference goes, and no. you cant do that, simply because your MAF (mass air
flow) sensor would be dangling in the engine bay, as well as all the
vaccumm hoses would be open. and Theres a really good chance your engine
wouldnt start if you didnt take proper steps to the installation. If
anything.. Do not shortchange yourself.
.. then don’t do it, and leave your shit alone..
@jordy100s .. if it wasnt K&N or AEM or INJEN or some sort of name brand
that would adequate pieces or directions, probably not a safe investment.
Hello. My 2002 toyota celica gt did not come with an ecu hose, is it
important? If it is were can I buy one? It is the blue hose that you
disconnect in the beginning

@USGiorgi dont get an intake like this. i had the injen system very similar
to this aem and yes it does collect water, went i went to pull it off my
car water literally poured out of the tube. im just fine with a short ram
and keep my motor safe 🙂

YES, electronical, lol to be honestly I’ve watched this 100 times and i
could critique on half the shit i said, but I wasnt shooting for a
literature award, just a DYI, but one day… Electronical will be an

you know that stupid thing that is to the left of your filter when you take
the box of that stop your are from comeing in sooo much is not funy my car
was haveing problems because of that.
also did this in 45min… but i work at a Toyota dealership so i’m used to
working on toyota’s and bought my AEM kit new, so i had all the bits n
pieces :-p little hint, you don’t wanna start or run your engine whith
wrenches on top of it… if they slide to the side and catch between the
belt you got a big problem…
Correct as stated before, You dont use the blue one. At 6:34 you will see
the blue connector hanging useless near the Evap bracket. However you DO
USE BOTH black connectors, One goes on the EVAP the other snaps into the
device towards the lower section of the Pipe. At 7:18, I have it in my
hand.

@DxBOY617 My engine is broken because of the oil problem. 500 miles before
the next scheduled tune-up. The car burnt 8 quarters of oil in less than
3000 miles. Check your oil level weekly guys if you have more than 100K
miles.
@Telekine5i5 .. eehhh maybe like 6-10 hp nothing dramatic, plus the kazuma
exhaust prolly laying down another 10 hp rated to do up to 20 hp, but that
may be 20 for a 6 speed gts.
@7474havik sorry man I’m not very familiar with the 4th gen celica’s infact
i would be way more in tune with a 90’s 5sfe model. but not anything before
that, sorry
