This weeks episode I replace the shift lever bushing on my wife’s 1996 Toyota 4Runner. It’s amazing how much of a different this cheap fix makes!!

hey, would this be the same for a 92 pickup
Would this be the same for an '02? I bought one and my first thought was, "wow there is so much play in this". I can basically do circles round and round in neutral, and yeah navigating to the right gear the first few times was awkward. Thanks for posting! I am hoping this will stiffen it up a little.
Great video. We got the MarlinCrawler.com white seat and shifter bushing and my son is putting it on his 1998 Tacoma now. Already did the 1st gen 4Runner. I think it took less than 30 minutes. Thank you.
I’m having trouble pushing and turning the lever assembly out of the casing to get to the inner bushing. Is there a trick to this? It looks so simple in your video.
It is stuck when i apply pressure downward to turn and release. I’m unable to turn it counter-clockwise.
Thanks!
I just pull it out from the top by pushing down and turning the holder instead of removing the 4 bolts which is just extra work.
two bushings were replaced here? the upper ring and the lower as well?
I saw other videos about this and their bushings were shot. I took mine apart and they looked pretty good and noticed yours looked pretty good as well but the gf says it's a big difference? So I might go ahead and change them and see. I have a next gen Tacoma and a little easier than your 4 runner. 2002/240K on it.
Excellent video. Really helpful.
Woow you solved my problem thanks
What about the 4X4 bushing seal? I have a problem with the 4×4 shiftor … can't find any information on it?

You’re a huge help! Just did this myself in my 97 4Runner. Thanks!
