Davin Peterson says:

How well these old Toyota's run shows how well built they are as Toyota has good quality control. They are not cheaply built, so Toyota's don't fall apart like Hyundai, GM and Chrysler vehicles do.

Davin Peterson says:

Wait did you say yearly emissions inspection? In Virginia, it is every 2 years, but if you buy a brand new car, you don't have to do an emission inspection for 5 years.

Now compare to a 19 year old Chevy or dodge.

Scotty I need your help.I have a 2014 Yukon XL 5.3 with a misfire on the 7th cylinder. I replaced all the spark plugs and the spark plug wire and only the 7th cylinder coil. It still idles reaI rough and i can drive the vehicle for a day and it will start misfiring again on the 7th cylinder. I removed the 7th cylinder spark plug and noticed there was oil on the spark plug. So then I went old school and put a nonfouler on and another spark plug and after a while of driving I would get another misfire on the 7th cylinder. Will you tell me what you think is wrong with the 7th cylinder and where you think the oil is coming from and what I can do to fix it?
Many thank!

I see Scotty as like a sleeper car. On the outside he's an unassuming older guy who still dresses like it's 1990, but when he starts talking about cars he leaves you in his dust!

Our washing machine is 10 years old. Still washing fine…

Eric Pizarro says:

Hey Scotty, do me a favor because I trust you as the most reliable car gurus. Do a Toyota car seats compares against others Japan made cars. Man the news Toyota’s ergonomic really, really sucks. I thought it was only the Camry but no, I have driven, RAV4, Avalon’s and corolla’s and they are pretty bad. This is coming from an old guy who would only buy Toyota’s because of their reliability. I been driving for the last 8 years Subaru’s because of that. Please check this out. I believe Toyota needs to address this issue.

Euck Fagles says:

Scotty I have an 08 Scion xD that uses full synthetic, oem oil filter, and it sounds like a dry start for a second when it's cold then goes away. Help

nerdyorganist says:

For some reason any time I look locally for a used Toyota, especially a Camry or Corolla, I keep finding them having major oil leaks and occasionally transmission problems. But I do live in the mountains, maybe that has something to do with it.
