Good job Dan, I never done one of these but at least now I am confident
about doing this kind of a job… Love the background music as well…
wow you move fast
Thanks for the video. Just completed a removal/installation of a
passenger-side axial shaft, on my mother’s 1991 Geo Prizm. ;)
Will this be similar to a 93 Corolla?
gr8 job man, you did the job beautifully well and provided encouragement
for someone like myself. Thanks man
Getting ready to do this myself, both sides, on a 1992 Corolla. Figured it
was pretty straightforward, but appreciate the video confirmation. Next
step: Go crack open the boxes and make sure I got good ones from the local
auto parts shop. :)
Thought the video was spot on. you got main idea across without a lot of
xtra crap in it. I like the fast forward part too. people that my not be as
handy with tools need to see prep work & showing some of it in fast forward
was a good idea. Good Video!
This video was just what I needed after I found bad cv during my diy
brakes. 🙁 Great job man, thank you! I was able to get the job done on my
’91 after this, save some cash and stun the guys down at my usual shop who
insisted “a girl really shouldn’t try that.” lol
looks easy to work on thanks for posting! I will try to change it up
tomorrow
TY!
thank you got a general idea now
thanks for the video this is just what I was looking for to do a drivers
side axle on a 93 tercel.
Air tools are over-rated… ok… maybe not. lol Good Luck!
Good video, im wondering if i should try this myself on my 97 corolla 4wd
on the right hand side front axle.. parts is so damn expensive here, and
getting others to do it is even more expensive. But after looking at your
vid it kind of looks easy, dont think its so much difference from your
corolla to the model i have
very nice, clean and clear. bravoo
wow what is that like A 1.5 gallon compressor? fucker
@adonisjcm Thanks… my oldest son is 8… pretty soon he’ll have to learn
too. It’s a great way to save some money!!! (not to mention… get the job
done right.)
“Is this Clarice? Why, hello Clarice.” LOL
Well… I’m sure it would vary, but if I recall correctly the axles were
around $50 so I would expect the shop to mark that up to $100 each. Labor
charges around $50 an hour with 2 hours per side. Brings you to around $200
per side. And after they tell you how the bad balljoints are just going to
ruin the new axles and void the warranty… you’ll probably spend a lot
more before you get your car back.
I have not, but most are designed the same way.
Hey, excellent video. Had a guy replace the front passenger side axle on a
2006 Toyota Corolla and there was still some vertical play on the tranny
end of the axle after the axel was replaced. Do you think the tranny is
damaged?…as that is the next step….the car had been driven for weeks
with lots of noise when turning… which is why the axle was replaced….it
did eliminate the noise…but hate to have to invest in a used tranny. What
you think?
This was actually a very well done video. I only hope that I’m good enough
to do this job on my car in less than 13 minutes, like you did. :)…My
only criticism of your video is that you could have use a drop lite to
illuminate the work for the camera. Your wife was very kind to accompany
you, but wasn’t that a lot of extra work wheeling the piano out to the
driveway ?
Thanks for that bro, much appreciated, keep them coming 🙂
great video! you should have driven the car when you finished the work just
for the non believers lol jejeje i understood everything thanks to the
detailed info you provided so thanks a lot bro, really helped me here, I’m
installing this in my 1991 tercel, should be the same i think 🙂 sheers and
happy holidays 🙂
If you’re sure you ruled out the tires, I would check the brake rotors.
They can warp from the heat of braking over time causing a shake. Usually,
this can be felt as a pulsation in the brake pedal while braking too, but
not always. I’ve seen axles do some strange things, so it’s possible that
they are the problem, but I’d still take the tires to a small tire shop and
have them rebalanced to be sure. Good Luck.
axle is really bad. When I grab the axel jiggle to slide it off, end part
stayed in the transmission. I try to do it by hand under neath, no hope. Is
there away to make it come off. Before i call mech, cuz I want to do it by
myself and learn from it.
Hey, very nice video man, very informational! Just how much do you think
that an average mechanic will charge me to replace these. The ones on my
car are making that clicking noise every time I turn. A response will be
greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Wondering what you actually found to be the problem? Usually, axles don’t
lock up.
My axel locked up on me at 50 mph yesterday ….just one side …watched
your Excellent video production on how to change it out ,….and if that is
indeed what I have to do I can …but would you think that it could be
something other than the axel and not the transmission ? good piano tunes
as well
nice video! done like a pro!
Like the ones at 0:50 ?
that music bed gave this video a nice feeling.
Hanibal Leckter music, that is exactly what I was thinking. The music has
to go, I fell asleep while watching this and had to start over! LOL
love the piano music you chose 🙂 really pulled the video together. not
being sarcastic or anything, truthfully an awesome choice of music. oh and
thanks for the video my c/v joint been slowing going bad over the last 10
-12 months and it’s gotten to the point where i need to replace it or find
myself on the side of the road. never replaced one before, believed it to
be a relatively simple process and your video confirmed my belief.
