Ed, the grille clips are shown in the video. You pop the clip up and then
pry the little retention clips out. The clips on the side are retention
clips pull and they should release. Every thing is either held by clips,
screws, or a retention mount. Good luck

hey +onza04 , is there a way to adjust the headlights for the 1st
generation Highlander? My girlfriends headlights are pointed literally at
the heavens and I really want to adjust them for her safety and the sake of
other drivers

Just finished replacing the headlights in my 2003 Highlander, and it was
much simpler than I thought it would be. All I needed was a 10 mm
nut-driver, and a long shaft (about 8″) screwdriver (to pop the retainers
on the side of the grille) by leveraging between the radiator cross-brace
and the back side of the grille. Didn’t have to remove the fender liners,
just push aside to get that one screw at the top end of each end of the
bumper. 6 screws along the bottom of the bumper, and the 4 clips on the
top of the grille, and the whole thing (bumper & grille attached) pulled
right away from the car, as the bumper cover has tabs that fit into slots
on the body/frame. One important thing, though: in my instance, I had to
remove a stud from the outer, lower corner of the original assembly, and
screw it into the new assembly – the new assembly didn’t come with that
stud, which is necessary for good alignment. So, 8 screws and 4 clips, and
the bumper/grille assembly comes right off; then proceed with the assembly
removal as in the video.

Thanks for posting this but you paused the video at a very important point
and left out some info that I think is much needed: how do you actually
remove the grille, and same with the bumper. I know there’s the clips
across the top of the grille, but there is also a clip on each side; how do
you release the grille from those clips? And, as far as the bumper mount,
is it held on just by the couple screws in each wheel well and 6 – 8 screws
along the bottom, or is there some other attachment also? Please fill me
in. Thanks.
