there is a specific torque spec, 22 ft lbs. but if you do not have torque wrench. you can tighten bolt then turn a quarter turn more. it’s not like you are rebuilding and engine where you have to torque all the internal bearings. thanks for watching and please subscribe. trust me…the techs at the dealer don’t torque it.
Sorry, I’m confused. An earlier commenter said you could ‘hand tighten’ the bolts. Are you saying there’s a specific torque setting you have to use at some point in this video? Where?
we did not disconnect the fuel line. you don’t have to.
By the way…did you guys depressurize the fuel system before doing anything to the intake manifold??
Favorited. Thanks! Awesome vid
I just replace manifold, valve, transmission gaskets next oil pan gasket, front struts, axels, water pump ohh and a new serpentine belt due oil leaking on it & it needs replacement it’s only 2 yrs old.
I just replaced my both the manifold and valve cover gaskets next will be the timing belt tension and water pump, I have to have this all done before August being that my wife just got accepted into a Nursing program and she’ll be driving to and from different clinical places and I don’t want to receive a call from her that car broke down on the side of the road while I’m on the road driving s tractor trailer to gain my 1 yr experience prior to finding a job driving hazemat tanker for a living.
Dude, you should’ve told him “no you don’t have to unplug the battery and at the sametime you can actually take a flat screwdriver and place on the battery (+) terminal while holding another screw driver on the (-) terminal you’ll get higher than a kite” Jking lolololo then again he might just try it to do just see if it really happens lolol which I hope he really doesn’t do it.

Great video. It fixed my “searching for idle” problem when winter cold and getting the 171 code on our 2003 Corolla. It took me an hour and a half with one broken bolt on the throttle body. Old gasket was a solid piece of plastic, like a Fisher-Price toy, after 250,000kms.
thank you. that’s funny bro. tell your dad look in the net or the IRS will be on his ass. i would expect your dad to guide you at least. oh well, it feels better when you accomplish it on your own. good for you bro. yes, i am a technician at a dealership and finished school at Universal Technical Institute at Avondale, AZ, in 2005. have a nice day.
I already subscribed!!!! My dad is a retired licensed mechanic and would not help me…I know how to hold a wrench and have all the right tools…thanks to you I was able to do it myself…wait till my dad wants his taxes done…I tell him to go search on the net…many many thanks…btw are you a mechanic or just mechanically inclined?
awesome bro, you can find in autozone but sometimes a cool service advisor at the dealer will give a free plastic clip. hand tight bolts is ok, i do that all the time unless it’s internal engine parts then need to torque to specs. thanks for the comment. welcome and please subscribe
Just finished installing the intake gasket (and put a new throttle body gasket). Your video was awesome and gave me all the info needed to do a complete job. I only hand tightened the bolts. I broke one of the plastic engine cover clips, any idea where I can get one…or to the dealer I go. Thanks again, you saved me $200!!!!!
thanks for watching and please subscribe. torque 22 ft. lbs for manifold bolts
what is the torque setting for the manifold bolts?
Where did you order your intake gasket? Or does Felpro brand works just the same?

12mm and 10mm, if you have metric sockets you have no problem fixing it.

Thank you, glad you did it yourself. save your money. Please subscribe
Dude, you’re awesome.
Check engine light solved for $11.19 and some grease on my iPhone.
many, many thanks.
you are so welcome. save your money and do it yourself. personally I think dealerships charge too much and they can charge whatever they want. they fix the problem professionally, that’s what’s good. but why go there when you can watch my videos since I work in a dealership for 7 years as a used car technician.
I am grateful you put these videos up i own one of these and my corolla has never run better because of you a BIG THANKS!!!!! YOU ROCK
