yes I was lifting it from the oil pan. as long you don’t lift it all the way, try 2-3 inches at first. and do it slowly. just enough to remove the bolt. i’ve done this 40-50 times already, not one oil pan bent. thanks for asking.

David Dozorec says:

I was watching your video and wonder where exactly do you place the wooden block?? it appears to me that you want it placed under the oil pan. is this safe to do without bending or damaging anything????? or is there anywhere else that can be used

welcome anytime. have a nice day.

new belt fixed problem. saved me a trip to mechanic ’cause it would’ve been a tough job. TY.

88bmyvegas says:

did you try replacing your belt first?? try that first.

rhino11us says:

my engine is squeaking real bad in the AM. is this why you replaced the tension-er. i’m wondering if it’s causing the squeaking on my car. thanks

88bmyvegas says:

please visit my blog page. there is a picture there. please read my video description find out.

jaytee81byers says:

is the tensioner suppose to be up or down cause I’m trying to fix my mom’s car the belt was shedded badly and I wanna get her cr running asap but I need help

88bmyvegas says:

sorry no it isn’t. it’s a different part. that’s a major job. you need to bring it to a good shop. looking about 4 hours labor. you need to also replace the timing chain guide.

Jadd Khayat says:

Is this for the timing chain tensioner? or is it a whole different part? I am having an awful clicking sound on start and they told me to change my tensioner as well as clean my throttle body

88bmyvegas says:

I never replaced just the pulley. I always replace the whole assembly. Please read the other comments, there is a person that replaced only the pulley. Thanks for watching and please subscribe

Rajinder Singh says:

88bmyvegas says:

just tighten bolt, then tighten quarter to half turn more. don’t over tighten, it’s an aluminum block. please subscribe

Dakota Nixon says:

how much torqe do you apply

88bmyvegas says:

you are welcome. thank you again for the comments. please watch the other videos. makes me feel good to know others can understand and do the job without me saying one word. LOL!!

Chase Hill says:

Your video helped make it really easy. I wouldn’t have known to lift the engine or how easy it was to do it. Great video THANK YOU.

Chase Hill says:

Yeah I put a new belt on also but once I got the pulley off I could tell it was shot.

88bmyvegas says:

thank you for posting. so the pulley was the problem. good job man. have a nice day.

Chase Hill says:

Just a heads up. There is a cover plate on the pulley and under it is a T-50 (I think) torx head. Just replaced it and the pulley is only $20

Chase Hill says:

I did not replace the belt yet. I took it off and saw that it does need to be replaced. The noise sounds like bearing for sure, Also the pulley has play in it you can see it when its runnang and after I took the belt off I grabbed it and wiggled it around a little. I bought the pulley itself and the unit whole in hopes that I can just replace the pulley then return the whole unit but if not at least I will have it and then just return the pulley. Any other one I have replaced has a bolt.

88bmyvegas says:

did you replace the drive belt already?? if you did and there is still noise, you have to replace the whole unit. if not, spray some WD40 on the drive belt. if the noise goes away, replace the belt.

Chase Hill says:

I am working on my wife’s 2003 corolla and I am 80% sure it’s the idler puller. Can I replace just the pulley (is it bolted on) or do you need to replace the whole unit (riveted on)
