only a cup is odd but thats ok. teflon is ok too. no leaks is good but drive the car for 20 minutes, if you see the temp gauge goes over 3/4 to hot then you still need to add coolant because there is air still in the block. sorry late reply, gone to a car show.
88, i took the whole thing out and only a cup of coolant came out???? i didn’t have loctite but used teflon tape will this be ok. i’ve been heating, cooling engine and filling radiotor. tomorrow morning hopefully one last top off. i can’t see any leaks from plug. TY
you can remove the whole thing but when coolant is removed, put locktite on the threads when you tighten it back so it will not get loose and leak. welcome
i couldn’t get a wrench from above as I can turn the 10mm bolt from above on the corolla. from underneath i had a hard time to reach. i tried to tighten base back but left at 1/4 turn. do you think it will leak? should i just remove the whole thing? TY.
i think it is better to use a 12mm wrench(i think that’s the size) to hold the base of the spout.
try holding the the spout with pliers, then loosen the bolt. try that. tell me what happens. welcome
hey 88, i’m doing the job now but the rear block drain is turning with the 10mm bolt. any advise, i’ll wait to see if I get a response soon. TY.

you would have to keep on pouring coolant into the radiator when you see it go down. if it it topped off and see no more bubbles and can see steam coming out, put on the cap. but watch the thermostat gauge on the instrument cluster. this process can take up to 15-20 minutes till the thermostat opens and the radiator fans go on. anymore questions please ask.

what is the coolant color now?? is it red or green?? if it is red, you would have to buy the coolant from the dealer. If green then you can get it at the parts store.
i’m about to change coolant. do I have to go with toyota coolant. prestone is selling one that says that for all makes & models. thanks for the video.
no it does not have a bleeder valve. highest part of the cooling system is the radiator radiator cap. you would need to keep on filling it till there are no bubbles.

I located two days ago when I had to change my manifold gasket thank now all I have to do is remove the serpentine belt to change the water pump and thermostat at the same time, like the saying is said “kill two birds with one bullet” lolo thanks
thermostat is on the lower radiator hose that is connected to the engine block. you will have to remove the alternator to get to it. remember to have jiggle valve on thermostat upwards. thanks for asking and please subscribe

This is one of the best coolant drain in fill videos for a toyota on youtube. Most people are stupid and buy radiator flush and pump their cars with water. Also good job draining the engine drain plug. That’s another thing that everyone manages to avoid.
